Wanting to date other people doesn't mean you are unsatisfied with your existing relationships.
#Polyamory is about opening your life to new people and new experiences and bringing those experiences back into your existing relationships to help them grow and develop.
When handled ethically, dating other people can make your existing relationships stronger.
A #Polyamory Red Flag everyone needs to look out for, especially when you are starting out, is when it favours one person over all others.
The problem with One-Sided Polyamory is that it can come about through several avenues, some more toxic than others. It can come from selfishness, toxic monogamy, and also emotional blindness.
But it doesn't matter why or how polyamory can become one-sided. All that matters is that it's toxic.
It's complicated with a cast that includes ace alloromantic characters. But I suppose it's Kaori and Kan-chan, Shiro's partners. They are very good friends, Kan-chan sometimes calls Kaori sis.
Shiro: Of course, I have Kao and Kan-chan. I figured out what I wanted to do with my life. Some things could be better. I would like to make peace with my mother, but only if she accepts Kao. But yeah, I'm happy.
Konbini Idol (In serialization)
Ume: Not very. I'm on my way to see a priest to stop a curse, only an onryo has diverted us into Muko, The Shadow Lands. The woman I'm with doesn't even like me. My husband is frustrated by my interest in her. Things could be much better. #polyamory
I suspect this question works better for 3rd person.
Like most romances, the story is driven by multiple characters. (Since I write poly we have multiple protags and multiple love interests not just two.)
Over time I have slowly developed the skill of handling multiple characters. I started with 2 in my first novel. In the second three. In my WIP we start with three and move to four by the midpoint.
At any one time, things are told from one person's POV. They are the protag for that piece of story.
Today In Labor History March 26, 1872: French individualist anarchist Émile Armand was born. He wrote about and agitated for free love and polyamory, pacifism, and against war and militarism. He wrote for and edited L'Ère nouvelle (1901–1911), L'Anarchie, L'En-Dehors (1922–1939) and L'Unique (1945–1953).
The trouble with bullet-based news reporting that it often leaves out context. For example, see the definition of #polyamory in this piece. They think it's only about sex.

Quote: I looked at the cigarette in my hand, thought, “What the hell?” and took a puff; “Ugh, unflavored.” But I’d finally gotten a kiss from my konbini girl, a secondary kiss, but a kiss.

Tomo looked peeved when I told him I had given Shiomi permission to stay with us. He squinted more than usual and cocked his head to the side as he replied, “It’s your house. But you really do have bad taste in women.”
“Just as bad with guys.” I retorted.
“If you’re dissatisfied, I can move out.”
I had been living with Tomo long enough to tell from his tone that he was only half joking. I couldn’t blame him. Shiomi looked like a load of trouble. Even I knew this wasn’t the brightest decision I had ever made.
