Do you target your work to a specific audience?

Given so many books and so few readers, I think we have to.

is going to appeal primarily to LBGTQ+ people who'd like an Atlanta-based sci-fi romcom. The age of the main characters (40's) enhances the book's appeal to an even more tightly-defined audience.

I don't say, “What can I write for audience X?”, but once a story emerges, I do consider “What will this story's audience expect or appreciate?”

(I am cheating by changing "antagonist" to “protagonist" in the question below. Sorry!)

26Nov- What question would your protagonist dread being asked by an interviewing journalist?

Interviewer: "How many people would you say you've slept with?"

Thomas, : [Long pause] “Today?”

14: How would be better if a secondary character were the MC?

Les: It woud have a lot more sex!

Davina: It would be mercifully shorter, because I'd kill Thomas (MC) on page one.

Miguel: It already is what God wills it to be. Why change that?

Anna Denise: It would have come out ten years ago because, unlike Mark, I'm efficient.

Who's right? Find out November 28th, when the book premieres on Amazon.com!

@writingcooperative @justin I’m Mark McElroy. My latest non-fiction makes #Tarot divination and brainstorming practical, simple, and accessible to everyone (A Guide to Tarot Card Reading is Book One.) My next fiction title, #ParallelLines, is a gay romantic comedy with multiple-universe sci-fi overtones. Eager to see other answers!

Great Albums - 1970s: #Blondie#ParallelLines (1978). Sometimes, the kids just wanna dance. Blondie made it happen with bristling power pop anchored by “One Way or Another,” “Sunday Girl” and The Nerves’ “Hanging on the Telephone.” As for “Heart of Glass,” you look back at the racism and homophobia encoded in the “disco sucks” movement and realize the punkest thing a rock band could do in ‘78-79 was take a disco song to Number One.
