Fixing the global childhood obesity epidemic begins with making healthy choices the easier choices – and that requires new laws and policies (theconversation.com)

Obese children outnumber underweight ones globally, and ‘social determinants’ in kids’ lived environments play a fundamental role. Obesity in kids can lead to a lifetime of poor health.

Beyond Wegovy: Could the next wave of weight-loss drugs end obesity?

Wegovy and Ozempic have made headlines, but a new wave of more effective drugs like Mounjaro

Most people hadn’t heard of semaglutide to treat type 2 diabetes around a decade ago under the brand name Ozempic.

Then, in 2021, it was approved in the US as a weight-loss aid under the name Wegovy. The medicine can cause people to lose a whopping 15 per cent of their body weight.

Obesity and the fructose survival hypothesis:

“Fructose is unique in resetting ATP levels to a lower level in the cell as a consequence of suppressing mitochondrial function, while blocking the replacement of ATP from fat.”

“obesity is a disorder of energy metabolism, in which there is low usable energy (ATP) in the setting of elevated total energy. This leads to metabolic effects independent of excess energy while the excess energy drives weight gain.”

Dr. Seuss and the weight-loss drug craze - By Kurt Cobb, originally published by Resource Insights
May 12, 2024

"...The obesity epidemic is being driven by industrial chemicals known as endocrine disruptors in the environment that make their way into humans via the air, the water & the food supply... Many industrial chemicals mimic endocrine chemicals in the body thereby interfering with the body’s signaling system.

...We have a system that creates widespread obesity through chemical poisoning and then sells people weight-loss drugs to take off the excess weight. When the drugs are discontinued, the weight comes back.

...Ironically, these drugs work by interfering with the body’s appetite control system by making people feel less hungry and more full. This is the same system that endocrine disruptors interfere with in the opposite manner..."
