#Riven (the sequel to #Myst) is one of my favorite games of all time, and I'm really hype for this remake. I'm astounded by how accurately they were able to maintain the look and feel of the original visuals.
Most remakes go for more of a "reimagining”. For Riven, I think they wanted to bring the original pre-rendered visuals to life, so we can truly step into the world for the first time. And it holds up! I couldn’t ask for more.
#Riven (the sequel to #Myst), one of my favorite games of all time, has a realtime 3D and #VR remake underway. It was announced recently that it's planned to ship sometime this year, and is now available to wishlist on #Steam and #GOG!
🚨 Riven: The Sequel to Myst (1997) will get a remake developed on Unreal Engine 5 and will land simultaneously on classic platforms and VR later this year!
Hey folks, I'm hosting a weekly Myst Online game night every Saturday night at 11 PM EDT where we get together and play Ayoheek in the Competitive Myst Online Neighborhood (my own neighborhood dedicated to playing the games within Myst Online) If you are ever interested in playing, it is free to play and can be downloaded through Cyan's official site here https://mystonline.com/en/play/
@littlealex@monkeydom “I realized, the moment I fell into the fissure, that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned. It continued falling into that starry expanse of which I had only a fleeting glimpse. I have tried to speculate where it might have landed, but I must admit, however—such conjecture is futile. Still, the question of whose hands might someday hold my #Myst book are unsettling to me.…”
Starting to wind down a tad for the holidays… played #Myst for an hour on my desktop, and like the last time I played a month ago, felt horribly nauseous. To all those VR people out there like @rpavlik any chance this would go away if I had a good VR headset? Pre 50s I never had this issue. My son claims a headset will fix this.
Hi! I’m daniel, aka dpadular, and I’m here to post about video games with y’all.
I’ve been playing since the original NES days, but really fell in love with video games when I first encountered the original #mortalkombat in the arcade.
I’m a bit of a generalist, and my recent games have been #portal2, #doom2016, #thestickoftruth, and replaying #myst and #riven for the first time in 20 years. I’m currently working my way through #prey2017 for the first time and really digging it
I'm sooo exited for it, they announced some new content, and adaptations for 3D. They haven't formally said anything about VR support, but it is listed on the Steam page...
I should be catching up on so many things: High Republic comics & novels, the third Scholomance book, mangas that sit unopened in my library, so many series and animes, getting fresh air or even DAMN SLEEP but here I am, replaying Riven for the twenty-fifth time. :blobcat_party:
Today marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Uru: Ages Beyond Myst. It's a game that's had an incredible impact on my life, and opened countless opportunities. I pretty much got into coding and software development as a result of the community around this game.
If you’re a Myst fan but have never played Myst Online, give it a shot! It’s a bit clunky and dated, but I think it still looks nice for a game from 2003 and there hasn’t really been anything like it since then. Plus you can play it entirely for free here.
Hell yeah, big Myst Online update tomorrow. If you have an interest in trying it out, it's available completely for free here: https://mystonline.com/en/
