Anyone else on #Misskey / #Sharkey having trouble getting the follow to stick rather than hang at processing? A common occurrence for me with bot accounts. Had a problem with PodcastIndex and the dev found an issue with authorised fetch with their implementation. Fixed and I can follow. Wonder if having same issue here?
I've written a bit of an extensive guide on navigating ActivityPub and its many apps, and instances, along with some initial questions new users might have, and links to mobile apps.
A friendly remind, that the Fediverse, is not managed by a wealthy organization or business, funded with corporate sponsorship, paid ads, or subscriptions. The Fediverse is a group of Fedi Instances (servers), managed voluntarily, but regular people, who like yourself, wanted a better social media experience.
Your administrator pays for real servers, with real-world cost, such as storage and bandwidth. The more users, the more storage and bandwidth, the more the cost.
If you're able, please consider reaching out to your Fedi Administrator, and inquire if you can make a voluntary contribution.
Version 0.9.0 of #Fedify, an #ActivityPub server framework, has been released! Here are the main changes:
• Added Tombstone, Hashtag, and Emoji classes.
• Added normalizeActorHandle() function to normalize an actor handle. This is needed when the domain of the actor handle is an IDN, or when the domain contains capital letters.
• Added an option to the sendActivity() function, excludeBaseUris, to exclude specified servers from sending activities. This can be used when you don't want to send activities to your own server.
• Added Context.parseUri(), a method to parse actor, object, inbox, and collection URIs.
• The time window for HTTP Signatures verification is now configurable.
• The @fedify/fedify/httpsig module has been renamed to . This is in preparation for implementing additional object integrity proofs other than HTTP Signatures.
• Improved interoperability with #Misskey.
Every morning, an instance administrator wakes up knowing they need to keep the infrastructure running smoothly for their users, ensuring a good and free social experience.
Every morning, a Fediverse user wakes up knowing they will find many people eager to socialize and interact, who strive to keep the Internet a place for the free exchange of ideas and opinions, away from the dynamics of closed protocols and Big Tech monetization.
It doesn't matter if you are a server administrator or a Fediverse user, thank you for being here and for contributing every day with your efforts to keep the Internet a free place.
