I will shock everyone once again with my pick of #Blondie and SoundASleep 💤
Close your eyes and you will see
Micro-flashing neon lights
Open your eyes and you will see
It still looks like the same thing
Lie and wait for sleep and listen
To your heart beat too fast for sleep
Close your eyes and you will see
The sound-a-sleep
Staying on the subject, here’s a song by a band from my neck of the woods in Germany as a contribution for @Kitty#TuneTuesday#Lullabies brought to us by @sproing
This week's #TuneTuesday is #lullabies. First one that came to mind is Meat Puppets' "Nursery Rhyme" which is a kind of lullaby, and I'm counting it. 🤣
It's from their 2009 album 'Sewn Together', and it's a cool song. The LYRICS! "A computer to fix all the rust and dents". "Out of the fog flew a rubber baby". The whole album is great, too.
Witherfall is a progressive / power metal band that pushes the envelope in similar direction as Iced Earth. The timbre in Joseph Michael's vocals, those piercing falsettos so full of breath, this is what metal can be. Sophisticated stuff.
One of my dad's favorite musicians is Vangelis and there is a track that me and my sis listened to sometimes as our lullaby, even with its dramatic final crescendo.
@sproing's prompt this week is #Lullabies in @Kitty's #TuneTuesday.
Linking a random Rockabye Baby! album would have been an obvious choice. Instead, I go with
I can't believe this song is 20 years old... The lyrics are political but since certain Maynard James Keenan tells you to go back to sleep, I thought this would somehow fit today's #TuneTuesday theme of #lullabies. 😅
🎶 Give me something to believe in, a breath from the breathing
So write it down, I don't think that I'll close my eyes
Cause lately I'm not dreaming so what's the point in sleeping?
It's just that at night I've got nowhere to hide
So I write you a lullaby 🎶
Over 20 odd years ago a close friend caught me singing a NIN song to myself and couldn't stop laughing as he thought it was a sweet song or lullaby until he caught the lyrics and recognised it. I've no idea what song it was, but it probably came off Pretty Hate Machine or Downward Spiral
Here's Ringfinger, remember, if you sing along, do it is a sweet gentle voice 😉
