Ditched my Macbook for a Thinkpad, my for a .

products are better but I hate being controlled or forced to pay more (way more) for things offered at a better price by other brands. 😁

Brand prestige doesn't affect me at all. If a shiny brand doesn't give me what I want, it is out of there, no matter how classy it is.

A lot of people, around the world, are anti-China (mainland) but are using phone brands like:

Owned by BBK Electronics:

  1. (spin-off of Oppo)
  2. (spin-off of Vivo)

Other companies:
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.
11.
12. (spin-off of Xiaomi);

Owned by Transsion Holdings:
13.
14. Tecno Mobile ()
15.

Aside: Brands 1–14 listed above are available here in the , even though some of those were made exclusively for certain countries and regions (and you wouldn't even see the Philippines mentioned in news and wikis).

Many of these brands already overtook , , , and even in many countries, as far as sales are concerned.

So the question is:

If the accusations and assumptions against these companies are true, where do we draw the line?

Terrible #Huawei #AppGallery #privacy.

When installing AppGallery it assigns an installation ID to your clipboard and when you open the installed AppGallery it checks the ID to associate your browser and your AppGallery install.

Just finding out that #OpenCog, a framework for #AI research used by #Huawei and others is primarily written in #Scheme

Seems like the project is being discontinued, but lots of interested examples are there for reference: https://github.com/opencog/opencog

Just had a call with a friend, she got issued a #Huawei laptop at work with the built-in camera at keyboard level — it's right above the "7" key, between "F6" and "F7", meaning "F7" now sits above the "8" key (I don't even).

Anyways, super-weird camera placement, stupid angle for calls.

I will admit, however, that it's a great choice if you want your meeting partners to become familiar with your nasal topography during the call, though
