Christianity had a small impact in Japan. First, it only existed in certain specific provinces. Second, the daimyōs in those provinces only cared about Portuguese trade and the economic benefits they could obtain with it. Christianity was just the price they had to pay for it.

Pro Wrestling Today Is a Microcosm of Corporate Entertainment

Professional wrestling remains tremendously popular media today because it encapsulates our collective obsession with justice. The recent WWE-UFC merger shows that the story of American professional wrestling is also one of ruthless profit maximization.

Props to the writer for skirting the weird tie travel censorship in this creative way even if the beginning scene with the novelist made me go WTF. This is a drama that defied my expectations even if the sets made me go OMG HENG DIAN with each scene and the outfits sometimes make me go WTF ARE THEY WEARING?

Two men who sued Universal because they rented "Yesterday" on the basis of a trailer that showed Ana de Armas, only to find she had been cut from the film, have settled their false advertising lawsuit. Peter Rosza and Conor Woulfe alleged they had been cheated out of $3.99 each. A federal judge initially sided with them but they were left on the hook for $126,705 in legal fees. Now, they have accepted a settlement that will resolve the case. Here's more from Variety.

Cats are finally getting their Hollywood meow-ment, according to the Hollywood Reporter, with moggies taking lead roles in shows like "Ripley," "A Quiet Place: Day One," "The Marvels" and "Argylle." James Hibberd talks to directors Matthew Vaughan and Steven Zaillian about casting troubles and the influence of Taylor Swift, and to animal trainer Jo Vaughan about how she gets our feline friends to do what they're told. Just for fun, tell us which of these you think is the most iconic movie cat. For the sake of this poll, we're not considering animated cats, nor other felines, so sorry Simba, Baby and the Cowardly Lion, you're out of luck.
