Worst idea ever? Using Windows 98 as an embedded operating system for an oscilloscope. It takes five minutes for the oscilloscope to boot. DID YOU NOT NOTICE THAT, TEKTRONIX? Anyway... Yeah. I fell sorry for the engineer who had to implement that idea. #RetroTechnology#EmbeddedSystems#BadIdea#Windows98
I'm trying to play with SH4 CPUs in a few set-top boxes I have. This is difficult as the whole STLinux FTP server is long gone.
If you, or anyone you know has these files:
@gorplop longterm this should OFC allow for way more, but ideally still very minimalist in that it's just #Linux, #toybox (either with it's #wget implementation or #curl as seperate program) and #spm to install packages.
Interesting how some automotive outlets are reporting the Tesla leak as either a "huge date leak" OR "data shows big problems with Autopilot and FSD", but not both.
@CrackedWindscreen I can recall an effusive Washington Post article, some years back, that sort of celebrated the fact that #Tesla shuns experienced #automotive engineers in favor of hiring former #Apple and #Microsoft employees.
Highly talented in software and #EmbeddedSystems I am sure, but maintaining/appreciating systems safety processes for the immense complexity of an automotive lifecycle cannot be read off the back of a Cracker Jack box.
