#TFG/enablers instigated #TheBigLie & now Republican election deniers are corrupting the election system:
CO officials warn of new frontier in election denial as more Rs refuse to certify vote totals. Canvass board members in handful of counties have opted not to sign off on election tallies over concerns.
Last fall, after CO’s general election, Rs members in those counties -along with Larimer & La Plata, likewise declined to sign off on the canvass.
#NEWS: #AIPAC (American Israeli Public Affairs Committee) is funding the campaigns of 37 #ElectionDeniers b/c “This is no moment to be selective about friends”. This includes a man who espouses the #racist#ReplacementTheory that #ADL called to be fired. Read the #Jewish Insider’s coverage of the controversy.
Other #NBC & #MSNBC hosts & contributors will undoubtedly now be under pressure to speak their minds as well. MSNBC’s prime-time lineup today will be worth watching.
The on-air #protests may be a seminal moment in #PoliticalMedia as #news orgs continue to grapple w/how to responsibly represent voices from the #Trump#RightWing on their screens & in their pages w/o handing their #platforms over to #ElectionDeniers or #BadFaith actors who have attacked & attempted to discredit their own reporters.
#Republican Donald #Trump has launched his general election campaign not merely rewriting the #history of the #Jan6, 2021, Capitol attack [#insurrection], but positioning the #violent siege & its failed attempt to overturn the 2020 election as a cornerstone of his bid to return to the #WhiteHouse.
In heaping praise on the rioters, #Trump is shifting blame for his own role in the run-up to the bloody mob #siege & asking voters to absolve hundreds of them — & himself — over the deadliest attack on a seat of American power in 200 yrs.
At the same time, Trump’s allies are installing 2020 #ElectionDeniers to the #RNC, further institutionalizing the #lies that spurred the #violence. That raises red flags about next year, when #Congress will again be called upon to certify the vote.
“'He was acting in ways that he knew to be wrong. And I think that the country unfortunately will come to see the measure of his character,' Cheney told election analyst Larry Sabato on the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics podcast called 'Politics is Everything.'”
Confidence in elections is the topic on C-SPAN Washington Journal this morning with John Fortier of American Enterprise Institute. I have observed that the more voters know about the election system, the more confident they are in it. Consequently, Republicans have much less faith in the system than Democrats because they are far more ignorant. Republicans verify this overwhelmingly in their calls, which are loaded with misconceptions. #cspanwj#electionfraud#electiondeniers#elections
