@CStamp There's never been any big, meaningful, progressive societal changes, nor any successful citizens led revolutions - without #art & #artists - from many different creative areas & mediums. Art is an essential part of activism actions & always has been. #Creatives are natural born #changemakers.
12 BRAVE LOCAL #CREATIVES, #ENTREPRENEURS & #CHANGEMAKERS will inspire, entertain & educate us with dynamic and captivating presentations (PKN-style: 20 slides x 20 seconds) with a wild variety of topics!
Backyard picnic reunion & mega catch-up, here, with my two friends, Raven & Marco, soon 💗
Wonderful humans. I care about both of them. We are all local POC environmental/eco justice & social justice/human rights activists - we also work with some international movements & activists, from Global South regions.

I’ve got a No Riffs for Racists shirt this band put out in support of the BLM protests in 2020 (all proceeds donated to I believe a bail fund, but I’ve slept a few times since then) laying around my house somewhere. I remember being struck by a bunch of Brits seeing a major problem in the US and finding a way to pitch in.
I mean, there have been other protest songs before it including within #HipHop, but the long-lasting influence of this song on the genre, culture, etc make it one of the most influential songs of all time.
I guess that technology has changed music. No decade saw a bigger explosion of technology in music making than the 80s.
The Art of Noise pioneered sampling via the Australian made Fairlight CMI (then the price of a small house). #JukeBoxFridayNight #changemakers #Music
A new Friday is here, the weekend is near (mine will start from 6 p.m., haha!) and it's time to dive into #JukeboxFridayNight .
Uhm, #ChangeMakers ? Well, maybe it's limited to metal but, what Meshuggah did for the modern metal is quite THE change.
To think that, when released, the album "Destroy, Erase, Improve" was largely ignored, is quite impressive to see how new bands from late '00s onwards learnt their lesson.
Bjork's album Homogenic fundamentally changed the way I thought about electronic music. It's impossible to explain how much this sounded like nothing else at the time. I remember exactly where I was when I first heard this album and how it blew my mind.
Maybe a bit of a cliche, but RATM are defindefinitely change-makers. I love that the making of this official video, for Sleep Now in the Fire, was itself a direct action that shut down Wall St for a day:
Hard to go past David Bowie's legendary performance of Starman on Top of the Pops in 1972, described by one website as "the most influential three minutes and 55 seconds of UK TV ever".
Don't think I have too many on this weeks theme but we'll see how we go... first up with the literal... Deftones 'Change (in the house of flies)'... White Pony was such a killer album...
The #JukeboxFridayNight theme for tonight is #ChangeMakers and, since I haven't quite processed the definition for that, I'm just going to go for the most obvious and literal interpretation I can, and post Candlebox's "Change" …
OK, going literal on the #ChangeMakers theme for #JukeboxFridayNight again, with one of my absolute favourite songs (which is part of a trilogy that is totally worth listening to on an awesome system with the lights out--"Everything Under The Sun")
