The mighty medieval Bothwell Castle, built on a bluff above a bend in the River Clyde. Construction began in the latter half of the 1200s but invasion and repeated siege meant that the original design of the castle was never completed. Bothwell Parish Church to the east of Glasgow. This is the oldest collegiate church in Scotland which is still in use, with parts dating back to the 14th Century. However, the Gothic nave and tower are more recent and date from 1833.
A mosaic portrait of the 18th Century Scottish poet Joanna Baillie made from Venetian Glass by the Murano Glass Company in the 1890s for the Joanna Baillie Monument, which is sited in front of Bothwell Parish Church, near where she was born.
The ruins of Bothwell Castle on the banks of the Clyde to the East of Glasgow. Built in the 13th Century, it played an important role in the Wars of Scottish Independence.
