A little #aux update. As some of you might know we decided to drop our nix{,pkgs} forks and move forwards with our own plans. And as of earlier today we managed to build #lix and #nix within our core repo.
#aux is super exciting! a lot of people taking charge and honestly a lot of its going over my head because everything is super informal, but it's still super cool! hope we can fully get this thing off the ground!
This phase is about amassing contributors such that we can confidently move to Phase 2 (Hard Fork). Right now we need core maintainers with deep nixpkgs knowledge and nix maintainers. If you fit either of those roles, please consider joining!
I wonder if #Aux could end up being an opinionated, easy-onboarding, example-based "distro" of #NixOS. A sister distro that focuses on usability as a gateway for people who are really coming at the power of #NixOS with little to no technical background.
A fundamental piece of #aux is the core package set. These packages are vital to the project and are used by all other areas of the ecosystem. If you have the expertise working with #nixos / #nixpkgs, please consider joining us!
Hey so I'm restraining myself from just boosting all his posts, but if you're interested in the future of computing, I would definitely recommend following @jakehamilton. #aux (#auxOS?) looks like it's going to be a real thing and while I have my problems with #nixLang I really do think in 20 years all operating systems will be based on the foundational ideas of #NixOS.
So my Sofirn SP10 Pro was freaking out today. I don’t think it was some weird mode I got into but whatever it was, I couldn’t get out of that messed up state. As I was going to bed I realized and Anduril is awesome and there must be some reset procedure. Looked it up and had my flashlight working again and back in advanced...
