This morning I glanced at a list of albums Brooklyn Vegan posted about for 2024 records so far this year, and there's a new FOUR TET record from March I feel like I would've missed had I not seen it there-- I hadn't heard about it.
Four Tet is of course Kieran Hebden from London and is some wild, weird and beautiful electronic stuff. There's some great synth and ambient sounds (and beats!) on this one.
'Three' will most likely be among my favorite albums of 2024.
New Johnny Cash album coming out next month, it's based on these unreleased demos he did in 1993. Apparently they kept his vocal and guitar and some guys that used to play with him filled in the rest. It sounds GOOD, man.
Kudos to @HailsandAles for including Italian band ZOLLE on his #FletchsFridayReleases, to @kevin for listening to it/pointing it out ("it needs its own genre") - hadn't heard em, this album is WILD. It's magical, odd & definitely deserves a listen. For fans of Andrew WK, Ween, Church of the Cosmic Skull? 😂
For anyone who's heard any of these (my current top 5 metal albums of 2024), curious to know your favorite (and if you haven't heard one or more, I highly recommend them).
New TUFF GUAC record 'Swanky Love' up for preorder! Comes out in less than a month (Mar 22).
Last year I raved about MOAR, this dude's other band. Tuff Guac is similar but kinda more chill in spots and western-y? Which is wild, because he's Belgian 😂
I may have previously mentioned the first single, "Mr Fear". This second single is "I'm Not a Man" and it's great. Big AOTY vibes from Rafael's stuff (always). Psyched to hear the whole thing and probably spin it on and off for the whole rest of the year, I'm sure.
