@Binder I'm not sure I'd use them as an example of good UX either, but oh, I definitely hear you.
Even with kind of liking the "bring the pain" of *nix, even after knowing my way around for decades now, it's still like "ok, that's going to hurt, and who has the time or patience"
UX is also one of the things that has kept me firmly in Windows, it's consistent and often can be navigated intuitively! Linux's UX has been improving, it's not to the point I would recommend Linux over Windows for someone asking about OS recommendations.
@WanderingPoltergeist@Binder Curious what you mean by "UX". I do things like start programs, navigate files, and that sort of thing. I still use the Mate desktop, which is 2002 technology and does exactly what I need. Maybe I just have a different use case. I also use a Windows computer on a daily basis and kind of hate it.
When I say UX, I mean User Experience. I much prefer the experience on Windows vs Linux, it feels intuitive to me. Linux has a different user experience due to the types of people who would be using it. The distro does affect how well or poorly the UX is, Ubuntu or Mint in my opinion are the better ones that I have genuine experience with. We all have different use cases, for me, Windows fills the role I need it to.
