@dansup Hasn't Ernest said Kbin doesn't really keep track of active users? I don't think they are equivalent metrics either.

@dansup I agree, which is why I think it would be interesting if items in other sections of FediDB (such as /servers, /software and /software/mastodon were also sorted this way 🙂

@dansup Problem is that Kbin is a PAIN to use. Lemmy is FAR better in function and appearance.

I made a Kbin account but quickly ran into issues trying to create a new community and the only way to "fix" it was to delete the account... Not ideal.

@y6nH We believe so yes, we go by the stats that each instance reports, and with the amount of growth Kbin has had in the past week or so, I don't doubt it.

I'm working on being able to detect suspicious growth/stats and adding a label when appropriate.

Luckily, nearly all instances use nodeinfo properly, and do not inflate stats. This could change though, so it will take some clever deduction to keep our stats as accurate as possible.

@dansup Yeah, @stux among others have warned about a lot of suspected spam users over on Lemmy
