Saw a series of eight magazine covers by Ed Emshwiller for #Christmas issues of Galaxy magazine, 1951 to 1960 posted on tumblr and had to share my favorites and describe them all.

I almost teared up a little seeing the cute little black girl on the "Mall #Santa" issue... thinking about what that would have meant to my mom if she could have seen it as a kid. That's so rare in #scifi #art.

And my ants love "hexapod Santa" Thank you Ed!

What was with the 50s and designing aliens by switching up the number of limbs or other body parts????

I mean I do like it, but it's just kind of goofy if you think about it too much.

For starters, they didn’t have cgi to play with. You wanted aliens, you had to dress somebody up in an alien furry suit.
