It's getting to be that time of year again. So here is a casual reminder to you all to not support the Salvation Army. They are a bigoted outfit that will think nothing of acting prejudiced against our LGBT brothers and sisters and anyone else to whom those labels do not apply.

Around 20 years ago our local paper ran a news story about a homeless lesbian woman and her son seeking shelter at the Salvation Army during a cold spell one winter. They denied a space for her in the women's shelter because of her orientation and denied a bed to her son in the men's shelter as an unaccompanied minor. I have never given to them since.
