The ex-Confederacy feels emboldened enough to rebel again.
Confederate war flags inside the Capitol on Jan 6 haven't been the only signs.

And when former Republican moderates started courting KKK fanciers (after LBJ’s Voting Rights Act), they corrupted & transformed their souls.
As for R-cons actually descended from defeated Confederate enslavers, I ran into loathesome/detestable 1 who seemed to view descendants of people his ancestors had enslaved with proprietary interest.
@StillIRise1963 Slavery is when the revenue generated by the laborer is allocated at 0% to the laborer, and 100% to the capital share--the owners. In the US, average nonfarm labor share has dropped from roughly 66% to about 50%.
Slaves can't form unions or strike. Use your remaining power, or lose it.

@Pineywoozle I learned about him in grad school. I'd never heard of him before. He had enough interaction with indigenous people to feel guilty about them getting their hands cut off for not finding gold. So, he figured out another group of people to enslave and destroy. @StillIRise1963@dbc3 Even before the Republicans started their current efforts to purge history of anything that wasn’t complementary to white men, i’ve often wondered what the world will be like if people genuinely knew history as it actually happened. Without women and people of color being erased so vigorously.
@StillIRise1963@dbc3 The ability to “other” another human being is so foreign to me. I see it in racists or misogynists anti LGBTQ people I encounter, or read about it and I understand intellectually it must originate from a place of fear & ignorance but I still have trouble wrapping the emotional part of my brain around it. It’s so insanely ugly.
