Just a little notice for pro-gun US politicians!

Here in Europe we play the same games, watch the same movies and read the same books and browse the same internet but we do not have daily mass shootings

"Daily deaths by gun" is not something normal and should not be accepted

Please stop finding excuses and start protecting your people

@stux by possibly amending an amendment. 😳

MimzyDub,

@stux it's the same here in Canada as in Europe in this regard.

@stux stux, protecting people is not what American politicians do. They protect the wealthy only. Period.

@stux And presumably not a massively different rate of serious mental health issues.

@stux

Oh but that would be totally out of line with the standard practices of this so called free country that in reality is a shithole country.

PadreWil,

@stux The second amendment is the problem. That and GREED and mass corruption in congress . The NRA gun lobby is paying congressman to NOT chg. a thing so they can sell more guns ….. and it’s sick !!!

@stux i blame 9/11 and the way this country fell apart afterwards leaving those of us who were young without a past and the boomers who were our parents refusing to relinquish control for a future. We've had terrorism and large avoidable death tolls on us soil since then, but the 9/11 wounds never healed. Is it really so bad to be nostalgic and yearn for a time before 9/11 with what we learned taken with us? America: DOA since sept. 11 2001. Thanks a lot, Bush.

timrichards,

@stux @Judeet98 Here in Australia too.

peteorrall,

@stux The gun lobby owns the politicians. That's why nothing gets done.

scottytrees,
@scottytrees@mastodon.social avatar

@stux Fun fact, the US (in general) will attempt to do everything else before doing what is the most practical solution to a problem. It's infuriating to say the least.

@stux It’s funny how when some brown people killed 2977 Americans by flying planes into buildings, the US flipped out and started wars and built new government agencies so it couldn’t happen again.

Then 10-15x that many people are killed every year by guns in the US and it’s all “thoughts and prayers, but the 2nd amendment…”

SleightWryder,

@stux You stab and mug each other. Your murder rates make us jealous...

It's not about the guns. It's about control and being able to force our politicians and bankers into wearing brown pants. And those pants best be brown when they make decisions affecting us and future generations.

@stux

We’re just a hypocritical shithole country pretending to be a democracy.

rouge,

@stux
NRA is a Death cult

zentec,

@stux You’re gonna need to make a substantial campaign contribution and some generous stipends to political action committees before that request can be considered.

@stux A handgun is a machine designed for a single purpose, to kill human beings. Why the United States refuses to regulate killing machines is beyond my understanding.

thecarpy,
torparskytt,

@stux Pretty much daily deaths by gun in Sweden these days. We regulate firearms quite extensively but criminals use illegal firearms. The laws mostly affect law-abiding citizens of course.

SammyGalen,

@stux Oh yeah? Oh yeah? Well here in 'Merika, we believe in the #SecondAmendment ! Wich meens we should... have a well regulated militia! So let's... regulate our militias.
Yeah.

LaureM,
@LaureM@federate.social avatar

@stux it’s corruption $$$ and distorted propaganda

EricLawton,

@stux

In Canada, where guns can be more easily smuggled across the border, we have an intermediate number of guns and an intermediate number of gun deaths.

It's almost as if there's a pattern. 🤔

JPZ,

@stux But the folks that make these decisions for us wouldn't make all that sweet sweet NRA Lobbyist money if they did anything…

kkarhan,

@stux The big issue is not laws but culture.

In Switzerland it is relatively easy to still acquire new machineguns legally.

It's just that in , don't commit .

@stux

I'm reluctant to say it, but I think the reason why "daily deaths by gun" continue in the USA is simply that too many people think it's okay--perhaps even normal or acceptable. A fervent minority with enough money and fanatic beliefs seem to be able to outweigh the majority, especially when so many of our politicians are bought and paid for by those who don't mind the daily deaths. For these folks, the price of protecting our people IS daily gun deaths.

Never said they were rational.
