I hope no one is fooled by governments claiming they want to read your private messages in order to crack down on illicit activity.

They don't.

What they want is to frighten you into staying silent and keeping your thoughts to yourself, for fear of who might be listening.

“Shh! Don't say that! They'll disappear you in the night!” That's what they want people to tell each other.

A dystopia, in short.

They must be stopped at all costs.
