Firefish strips it unless you have "keep original" toggled on. I'm not positive but I don't think Drive has been changed much since the fork so it probably works the same.

@hazelnoot So when using exiftool to compare.
when "keep original image" is checked, metadata is left intact, including GPS cordinates.

When it's not checked(the default) so that the image is converted to webp, all the metadata appears to be stripped
