@ai6yr@Richard Big caveat here: this article is 13 years old. In California at least and in many parts of the world the grid is powered more and more by renewables with low CO2 output.
@teleclimber@RichardIF you dry your clothes in a clothes dryer when renewables are producing ie during the day (using an electric or heat pump dryer), and you don't replace that dryer every few years due to equipment breakdown (add in the cost of manufacturing/transporting that equipment to your math). I understand why dryers are used (try to line dry something in Florida, for example)... but just an example of where we definitely value convenience (and local convention) over better practices. https://news.yahoo.com/homeowner-outraged-facing-2-500-100000362.html
