veirling,

@msquebanh 💜 🙏 Sending all my best energy to you today, Phoenix. tysm for speaking the truth about covid. We desperately need it.

@veirling Thank you ❤
People who go to hospital for medical help not covid related shouldn't have to deal with hospitals infecting them with covid.

Public health authorities shouldn't be playing eugenics Russian roulette with people's lives. Which is exactly what they're doing.

veirling,

@msquebanh Oh, yes. "Eugenics" is my biggest takeaway word from the covid crisis.

AutisticMumTo3,
@AutisticMumTo3@leftist.network avatar

@veirling @msquebanh
I heard that word years ago- long before Covid. So many I forget now when.

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@AutisticMumTo3 @veirling I've heard it used to describe how Nazis tried to kill off disabled & elderly people. Also used in colonial 'breed out Indians'/'breed out Aboriginals' on Turtle Island & in Australia & New Zealand. Also heard it brought up during AIDS crisis in 80s by cruel people who believed only homosexual people got AIDS.

Not much different now; public health authorities using eugenics policies to kill off elderly, disabled & immunocompromised peoples. We're seen as disposable.

AutisticMumTo3,
@AutisticMumTo3@leftist.network avatar

@msquebanh @veirling
The idea & term originated in Britain before the war

veirling,

@msquebanh @AutisticMumTo3 All this, Phoenix. Throughout, can't help but notice people willing to sacrifice their own family just so they can go to the seafood buffett without a mask on.

To me, covid is one of the great modern lessons of external violence that has been fully internalized.

As another example, Bill Gates having what he thinks is a reasonable conversation with Ezra Kline about "population control" in Africa is also eugenics. Large scale racism, too.

veirling,

@thepoliticalcat @msquebanh @AutisticMumTo3 Sigh. Oh yeah, the royals. I'm Canadian born and have kin who are still really in to the royal family and their imperial history. Makes my eyes glaze over just thinking about it.

@veirling @thepoliticalcat @msquebanh
Stuck up bunch of prats most if not all of them. The monarchy should be consigned to the history books along with a lot of our political system.

So sorry for your loss. Lovely meal for your dad's 100-day ceremony

msquebanh,

@thegreenpagesBC Thank you. We put out enough ceremony food offerings for Dad & for both my patriarch & matriarch grandparents ❤🙌❤

Finished cooking the spring rolls & gai lan(drizzled oyster sauce over them).
Mom's just gone to Jade Fountain to pickup some dimsum dishes to add to our family food offerings for Dad's 100 days memorial ceremony.
I'm pulling out extra candles & incense.

Ari,

@msquebanh ❤️

msquebanh,

@Ari Cultural ceremony is important.

Ari,

@msquebanh I believe so. I can't speak much on it as I didn't get any cultural traditions passed down from either side of my family. My identity was erased. So I'm learning about the traditions that other people have. I'm glad that your dad is receiving so much love and good food ❤️

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@Ari You're in same disconnected boats as many of my mixed race & adopted out friends ❤

Dad's 100th day of passing, memorial ceremonies were done this afternoon. Many of his fave food offerings were laid out for him & our ancestor grandparents. In front of indoor family altars.
Offerings & incense were also placed outside at temporary altar for Taoist lord of underground.

@msquebanh thank you for sharing the remembrance of your dad, wishing you peace on this day.

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@NorCal_Lynne Thank you ❤ We will be doing ceremony for him every month for full year. Then we do ceremony for him 6 times a year after first year passes for next 7 yrs to follow. It decreases after year 8 but our culture never stops honouring our deceased parents & ancestors, until we pass on from this Earth, ourselves.

ICareAboutTheWorld,
@ICareAboutTheWorld@mas.to avatar

@msquebanh @NorCal_Lynne That's a very endearing custom. Thank you for sharing.

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@ICareAboutTheWorld @NorCal_Lynne You're welcome. We believe in taking care of our family members, while they're alive & after they've passed on as well. That's how we practice eternal love & respect.

ICareAboutTheWorld,
@ICareAboutTheWorld@mas.to avatar

@msquebanh @NorCal_Lynne We can all learn a lot from that. 🙏

So very sorry for your loss

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@AutisticMumTo3 Thank you.
His life was shortened from covid infection in hospital, resulting in long covid cardiac complications & death. It's one of the biggest reasons I'm so vocal about covid & the need to keep wearing masks & taking extra health safety precautions.

AutisticMumTo3,

@msquebanh
Covid really is a nasty illness

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@AutisticMumTo3 I can only be around people who take it seriously because people who act like it's over are unsafe & dangerous to me & rest of my family. Mom's immunocompromised too.

AutisticMumTo3,

@msquebanh
I'm not full on immunocompromised but my immune system won't be working at its best. For starters I'm diabetic and overweight and right now have infected leg ulcers I'm on antibiotics for. I also am unable to get a decent night's sleep- poor living conditions & trying currently to juggle antibiotics and probiotics (the latter for my IBS) which results in me having to eat every 3-4 hours 24 hours/day

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@AutisticMumTo3 I think you'd be considered higher risk & immunocompromised by most medical folks. My Mom's now 67 with Type II diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis & high blood pressure issues. She has PTSD & intergenerational traumas too - which everyone in my family has to some degree, from our family history.

AutisticMumTo3,

@msquebanh
I have high blood pressure controlled by medicines

AutisticMumTo3,

@msquebanh
I was thinking full on immunocomprised are those with basically no immune system at all.

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@AutisticMumTo3 That was my Dad - no immune system left after covid hospital infection. Me & Mom have very weakened immune systems from underlying illnesses so we're both considered high risk. I'm at higher risk than Mom because I'm not eligible for any covid vaccines & on tiny medical exemptions list (due to ongoing medical research into why regular flu vaccine almost killed me a few years ago).
I can't be around anyone who treats covid like it's not serious & won't mask up around me.

AutisticMumTo3,

@msquebanh
Most people seem to have swallowed the lies that made Covid out to be minor now or even over. So dangerous for the likes of us.

AutisticMumTo3,

@msquebanh
I'm not tier 1 for Covid jads but I am considered Clinically Extremely Vulnerable and would have a jab some where between the extremely immuniocomprised (or as I call them full on) and an average 54 year old

deborahh,

@msquebanh condolences on the loss of your father.

I do understand your caution. I feel safer in crowds, on the subway, in an elastomeric mask with a good seal. Also easier to breathe and less sweaty. In case this helps. 🙏

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@deborahh

I wear a mask when using HandyDart accessible bus system for local disabled people & in vehicles with folks who don't live with me. I avoid all other places - especially crowded spaces with poor ventilation. I have not been sick with cold/flu for 5 yrs so far. I was masking before covid as it's part of our culture to protect ourselves & our community when we feel under the weather.

debonairetoast,
