According to the news this morning Paramount #StarTrek is being bought by a consortium funded by KKR. Well, it was a good run folks. Maybe in another thirty years we can try again.
Now that it’s done, I will say this: NEVER HAVE I EVER seen a show that can be in a situation where, for example, “The warp will blow up in 30 seconds” and they manage to pack 5-10 minutes of dialog about their feelings into that “30 seconds.”
That’s been a joke about ticking bombs on TV and movies for decades, but Disco came along and said, “hold my beer.”
(Writers, tip for you: all you need do is change “30 seconds” to “10 minutes.”)
@evoterra I sometimes wonder if it is the arrogance of the writer saying, “My words are so magnificent, they shall forgive me any transgression of time or logic.“
@evoterra and I’m willing to accept that if you at least change scenes and locations that you might be showing two concurrent series of events and therefore effectively doubling the available time, but Discovery was really good at just staying in one room and one conversation.
@NickGates@paul_aman He definitely talked about the temporal cold war off handedly. He also had a lot of knowledge about the history, details and inner workings. Still surprising giving the timeline they are in.
Also going to not make a ton of sense to the Ben and Adam since they just started in on TGG.
