@DaleTrexel they are certainly light enough. I once put a garmin bike gps on the dog, really overdoing the mounting since I was sure he’d knock or scratch it off.
should I get a full suspension #mtb if I'd rarely need it? I'd use it some up at #duluth probably but the reality is thatd be like once a year. But of course I could be overbiked at Theo and it's not like thats a problem.
im mostly trying to decide between a Wyatt Vista and an Otso Fenrir. I have a Wyatt fat bike and an Otso gravel bike so I'm familiar with the brands but neither offers full suspension.

I'm not in any hurry though. I won't be doing any MTB racing until next season at the earliest
This past weekend was pretty memorable. Went to Bentonville, AR for Bike Fest. I only brought my e-bike as our goal was to get as much riding in as possible over 3 days. Broke my lower cage on my derailleur, rain dumped on us in the morning of day 2, and day 3 was just perfect. Officially clocked 92 miles of riding during our trip.
And this was a very fun trail that had a bit of everything. We rode it about 4x to get more comfortable carrying more speed, but I couldn't get myself to go faster to clear some of the jumps. But some of the locals say this is one of the fastest trails in the area. It's called Interplanet Janet. I know everything looks flat in the video, but it was mostly downhill and had great features.
Infrequently used singletrack motocross/mtb trail halfway up Eagle Mt, connecting to other even less frequently used, but magical trails. Only becomes accessible in April, but worth it, as it hugs the mountain side for a few km that feel endless (as good singletrack does). #mtb#hiking#nature#singletrack#trails#pnw
Wojcieszów. Single tracki Dłużek oraz Okole. Wspaniały przelot pomiędzy nimi. Dłużek? Nuda. Choć dwie gleby zaliczyłem. Okole? W to mi graj. Były momenty. Urokliwy i najciekawszy technicznie. Utyrałem się jak jasna cholera.
Przelot? Z pięknymi widokami i ciekawymi miejscówkami pod przyszłe wyrypy.
Potem wpadły: zajebiaszczy pączek z porzeczkowym sorbetem oraz szejk o smaku maślanki z kruszonką (niebo!) w lodziarni znajdującej się w Świerzawie.

These cliffs are actually the remains of a limestone quarry: blocks cut here were carried by pony to the canal and beyond. The odd cones are not natural features: they’re the rubble just overgrown
And in the afternoon I went for a ride with B, who had to wait for me at the top of every climb. She now enjoys hills for this reason. e-bikes have a way of getting people who consider uphill climbs to be needless suffering to view them as “needless suffering for others”

Um diesem absurden #Vorurteil, #Bashing und #Blaming gerecht zu werden, habe ich mir auf meiner #Biketour heute durch's #Krebsbachtal bei #Eigeltingen besonders viel Mühe gegeben, nicht nur den Weg, sondern auch das Bachbett ohne Rücksicht auf Flora, Fauna und Ökosystem zu zerstören - siehe Fotos.
Die fehlenden Bäume gehen natürlich auch auf meine Kappe... die habe ich mit dem Kettenblatt umgesägt.

Las oraz wzgórza niezmiennie piękne, a okolica dzika. Na trasie zaliczyłem lekki wkurw, bo jakiś kutafon po zjeździe singlem urządził sobie popas, a papierek po batonie wyrzucił beztrosko pod koła, na ściółkę. Nie lubię po kimś sprzątać, a tym bardziej kalać wzroku syfem. Pozbierałem i pokręciłem dalej, ciesząc oczy soczystą zielenią. #magiczylas#trail#mtb
I've been taking my old #MTB out again of late and had forgotten how much fun an out and out #XC bike can be. But it needs new rear hub, cassette and chain, plus a new front rim. There's nothing inherently wrong with the specs of the worn out parts, but given that it's ~10 years old and tech has moved on, do I go like-for-like or use it as an excuse to upgrade from 10 speed to 12? 🤔
This dilemma is worryingly close to how most of my n+1 purchases start out. #cycling#bikeTooter
@enobacon This is part of the dilemma. I could increase range at the same time, which is always nice. I would need a new mech and shifter but that'd 'only' be another £100 or so and if I'm already spending a few hundred …
@pete you may also find chainline problems with the frame geometry and tire vs the newly larger cog, though maybe that's less of an issue on larger wheel diameters.

Während ich letztes Wochenende bei annähernd blauem Himmel und sommerlichen 25°C unterwegs war, waren es heute 1 Woche später phasenweise Graupelschschauer bei anfangs 6°C und zum Schluss nur noch 4°C 🥶
Ich hatte heute auch wieder eine Winterbikejacke an und war froh, die Winterbikeschuhe doch noch nicht für die Einmottung bis zum nächsten Winter sauber geputzt zu haben.
My bike now has spokes made out of strings. It’s actually a material called Dyneema which is polyethylene. It’s said to have 15x the strength to weight ratio of steel spokes and floats on water. My wheels lost over 200 grams in weight. But what’s bigger is these spokes dampen chatter on the trail. It feels like I’m riding with half the air in my tires, but without being slowed down.
I’ve done 2 rides on them so far and I’m very impressed by the ride quality improvements they have.
@mark I almost added Berd spokes to my new WeAreOne carbon wheels and Onyx hubs. But in the end I worried that there might not have been a local shop that would stock spare spokes or how to work with them. Plus it was going to add an additional $800 CAD or so to the price of my new wheels.
They look awesome though. Would love to try a bike with them.
@metin Oh yes, I can absolutely relate. I actually hate #people and their loudness most of the time. 😄
And yes, it was taken with my #iPhone and the #Hipstamatic app. Some time in the past, I‘d buy every new HipstaPack they published but after a while it got too messy in my app so I stopped. Still quite a large collection though. 😅

Der Grund für das MTB-Bashing sind einzig und allein Lobbyinteressen, "Wir waren zuerst da"-Mentalität, mangelnde Kompromissbereitschaft und ähnliche, persönliche, irrationale Befindlichkeiten.
Heute war doppelter #Kälteeinbruch. Zum einen war es deutlich kälter als zuletzt, weshalb ich bei Hose, Jacke und Handschuhen wieder eine Stufe dicker wählen musste - und dann kam ausgerechnet im Anstieg im Südhang doch die Sonne raus.
Andererseits habe ich mal wieder zu spüren bekommen, dass meine Leistung bei Kälte deutlich abnimmt. Zuletzt dachte ich, dass nach einem leider zu faulen Winter so langsam wieder der Leistungsturbo zündet. Aber heute war ich 1,3 km/h langsamer auf der #Trainingsrunde als beim letzten Mal. Also der andere, körperliche Kälteeinbruch.
Davon abgesehen kenne ich mich hier fast nicht mehr aus. Wo im Herbst noch #Wald war, ist kompletter #Kahlschlag - überall.
Erste Tour dieses Jahr über den #Hegaublick nach #Hintschingen und über #Riedöschingen hoch zum #HelmutGroßPlatz oberhalb #Tengen und weiter über den #Postweg zum #Napoleoneck bei tollem Wetter. Allerdings ist aktuell wieder eine Zeit der krassen Temperaturunterschiede. Zwischen 8°C auf der nördlichen Schattenseite und 24°C im sonnigen Südhang war alles dabei.
Und last but not least liegen so viele Bäume (r)um, das ist echt krass.

Wenn ich hier bei uns durch die Wälder fahre, dann ist der Wind- und Schneebruch vom Dezember und Januar auch extremst. So schlimm war das noch nie. Echt abartig!
Might have mentioned this before, but I really do like the in-ride displays on the iPhone. Glad I finally spent a ridiculous amount on a case and handlebar mount. #mtb
