A great use for reddit is the ability to search posts and opinions about any niche topic. Will that be possible with Lemmy as it grows? Will I be able to Google "instant rice Lemmy" and get a comprehensive tier list of each brand?...
I have the pixel 6 and my SO has the 6a. We have 0 problems so far, i have had mine for nearly 2 years the 6a for about 4 months. I mean yeah pixel 3 and 4 had huge problems at first but imo they have improved a lot as a smartphone company.
Sadly i am in Greece where "Google" is not yet, meaning that since i have to buy the phone from ( let's say ) Germany (or France or any other European country ) i do not have 5G support so i cant relate to the problem.
I have 2 ( or sometimes 3 ) days of battery life since i really dont use my phone much except calls, messages and sometimes using it as a debugger for the projects i develop ( android debugging and testing ).
Overall im VERY happy with the phone, 100% recommended.
Prior to the protest reddit was in full support of the protest. Most polls on subs supported a shutdown. Now, seemingly every community cant understand why the protest was needed and they're calling it a mod power trip. There is a 3rd possibility. This is an unfounded conspiracy but reddit themselves could be manipulating...
Many news outlets paint the protest as "mods dont like change, thats why they are protesting" which is missinformation and someone that is lazy to do some research doesnt see the importance of it
To be fair, i kinda prefer windows 11 over 10 in some cases. I use windows to play games mainly ( some dont work with proton/lutris/wine ) and do some code development. The new task scheduler and task managment ( not the app ) is far FAR superior, you get near 0% usage when idle and if you turn off the ms bs ( chris tutis script ) you have 0% resources doing background stuff. Dont get me wrong, all the setting re arrange and baked in spyware is a thing but even for battery life ( on my laptop specifically ) its great compared to 10s ( nothing beats linux tho, but sometimes you dont have a choise ).
I made a script using flask to generate an Opening and a Closing report based on stuff i did through chatgpt, then if i like it i can send it to our slack channel with one click. I am a very introverted person and hate communicating lol.
On the main "script" i have lots of microservices, including an overview of my stocks (gain, price, and return in euros instead of dollars) and a location updater for people at work since again i hate talking to people and they can see what i am up to.
ah yes, i have been trying to configure my crons and supervisord the right way and its such a pain in the butt. I would be EXTREMELY interested in trying/using it out. Also if you need any help let me know : )
Will Lemmy posts be searchable on Google?

RIP to my Pixel Fold: Dead after four days (arstechnica.com)
The closed display halves almost touch, and that can smash debris into the screen.

Did the reddit hivemind do a 180 or are the people left behind just the people who don't care.
