I changed my alarm to soft bird noises so it's not a jolt to the system waking up.
I leave my phone across the room, this helps sleeping at night instead of on your phone and then you have to physically get up to shut the alarm off.
(Here's a funny story about number 1 though. I had my alarm set to chickadee songs which was great until I went camping on my days off and I kept getting woken up at 3am by real chickadees)
I use the Alarmy app. To get the alarm to turn off, I have the scan the barcode of my bathroom soap.
Along with that, I came up with a morning routine that I really enjoy. I wake up 30 min earlier than normal to enjoy it- but it warms my heart. I sip coffee on the couch, scroll/play my phone game (Two Dots) while my pup snuggles next to me. Is there something that you can do in the morning that brings you joy? Read? Take a walk? Make art?
Use a wake-up light. You can buy standalone alarm clocks that have this built in, along with an audible alarm that fades in so it's not so jarring. Most start bringing the light up 30 minutes prior to the time you set your alarm.
You can also do something similar with many smart light brands like Hue or Govee.
This is especially handy if you routinely have to get up before sunrise. When I used one, it was pretty common that the light alone would wake me up a few minutes before my alarm.
If it's a zombie apocalypse, then I would assume the grid is down. Critics would say that the battery and the durability is a problem, but I don't think it's a problem in this time and age. So is the phone really the best source of knowledge during a zombie apocalypse?
This community is to simply archive those Q&A posts from any site as long its useful. Before posting, you may need to read the rules. I'm also probably going to post here when I search for something and it comes from a Q&A post, I suggest you all to do the same. Ok that's all for this post! Happy reposting!
I realized that there are alot of inactive communities across the Lemmy and kbin instances. The beauty of decentralization is that we don't rely on a central instance, if a fediverse instance becomes the central one that hosts the majority of posts, then if that instance goes down, we lose alot. I also suggest posting to small...

Each time an hour starts, there are thousands of alarms that go off to wake people up across the world.

Morning Routines? How do you get out of bed FAST?
I'm stuck in a rut. Alarm goes off, I hit snooze...again and again. I want to be one of those people who leap out of bed at the first ring....

Should we post on our local instances' communities to avoid making the Fediverse centralized?

If there was an advanced fully eco-friendly civilization in the past, we wouldn't even know they existed.

When you post content on the Fediverse, it feels like you are contributing to something good
Basically instead of posting on the closed off counterparts, it definitely feels good to post something to a free, open and decentralized platform.
Aaron Swartz is definitely proud of the FOSS community today
The FOSS community has done alot recently. I still hope Aaron's dream of a free and open internet will continue to flourish.
How to properly convert Asus .CAP Bios files into .BIN?
As title, how do I properly convert Asus .CAP Bios files into .BIN to make them flashable through a CH341A Bios programmer?

I'm a noob that is going to update my laptop (Asus ROG G731GU) BIOS using a CH341A programmer and an SOIC8 SOP8 test clip. What else do I need to know?

Are there custom roms that support Samsung A series phones?
I use a Samsung Galaxy A31 and I wanted to know if there are custom roms for it. Or the A series in general.
I used to see a bunch of kbin magazines on my homepage but now I'm not
Even when federation is on I used to see them. And no, I'm not going to turn off federation.
