That is not rly correct. They provide the source code if you subscribe which is enough to honor GPL. The part about not distributing the code and not building a fork / competitor is against the GPL. GPL would even be honored if they print out the code and sent it to you per mail after you asked for the code. GPL does not mean you have to host the code on a public site.
Well that is the problem, the damage is done the institutions and businesses relocated or are relocating and everybody spend billions severing ties.
At this point the UK isn‘t a large and affluent trading partner any more. So why would you give a nobody anything special?
Also the EU is power centric and the UK embarrassed themselves worldwide. Why would you want somebody like that on your team?
You can just let them bleed out and talk about them rejoining the team when their pride is broken and they are lit. begging you to rejoin.
I don’t really get how people think Reddit
is winning. Sure traffic is back to normal or even higher, but that really doesn’t matter. They want to go public and for that to work they have to be lucrative for advertisers.
No one in their right mind wants to advertise like normal on current Reddit. Sure they still have users but now you advertisements are not targeted and you basically advertise on a shitpost site.
From a money perspective this is a huge problem for Reddit because for a investor in the current market situation that is not rly something you want to invest in. Remember it is a forum that hasn’t made a profit in nearly 20 years and a relevant percentage (active posters) of the userbase is trolling right now.
It currently looks like a lose lose situation (Reddit and the users don‘t get what they want).
Was ist daran kritisch?
I don‘t think this is entirely true. Sure there are better designed apps, but the main userbase uses the new Reddit, the official Reddit app and things like MS Teams. Most people wouldn’t use this platforms if user experience and first impressions really matter. The same goes for MS Windows. MS published a rather unstable OS for over 10 years and still it is the most popular OS.
A ton of moderators have been making changes to their subreddits' rules (e.g., only allowing certain posts, going NSFW, loosening rules a ton) to protest without getting kicked out. Do you think this strategy of turning a subreddit into shitposts is effective or not?...
Their problem was they set the subreddits to NSFW but didn‘t actually post any NSFW stuff. I would have just started massposting gay pron via a bot. That rly tickles US advertisement firms and it rly hurts Reddit. But then again most mods seem attached to their community so they probably wouldn‘t do it.
I don‘t think Reddit is overall happy about the shitposts. Nobody will pay you full price to advertise in a shitpost sub. I reckon they don‘t want to pay at all for this. You wouldn’t advertise on 4chan either.
No, this just proves what everybody knows that has worked with ChatGPT. It is a nice tool if you want to write a story but everything else is just a time waste. Contrary to the media belief 99% of ChatGPTs answers to business related questions (including coding) produce a partially wrong or completely wrong answer.
You rly can‘t trust the answers ChatGPT gives you at all.
And coding … Copilot is already not good (in coding but very useful for auto completion) but ChatGPT is actually worse. ChatGPT fails even on easy coding tasks in most languages and even the JS solutions are mostly horrible.
Sure the code is also a problem, but in the here and now the biggest problem are devs that just believe whatever ChatGPT prints out and in the end you have a PR full of code (including deprecated extensions and packages) from yesteryear.
But self hosted models would be awesome nonetheless.
So I just got an android phone for work. In contacts do you rly have to touch your account icon then contact settings and then your info just to see your own contact details?
Also why can‘t I give myself a label? That is super inconvenient.
Is there another option like it is on iOS where your card is the top card so you don‘t have to search your phone for your contact information?
I don't know if you've noticed this, but threads or comments about Lemmy or the Fediverse get downvoted a lot on Reddit and trolls who claim that it's "dogshit" and "not going anywhere" get systematically upvoted....
The majority aren‘t bots. Most of them are legit no lifers to whom Reddit going down the drain would be a huge blow. I mean you work full time as a cashier for taco bell and you are not really happy with that situation. Some people go to school again, learn a skill… others spend all their time one Reddit stockpiling karma. Those are the people who really hate lemmy and anything that could remotely make Reddit worse, because they are heavily invested in the platform for the wrong reasons.
Well, I‘m not a mod but I‘m kinda sad they didn‘t know how to really hurt Reddit, or they didn‘t want to.
They should just have said nothing an on the day of the blackout they should have let the p*** bots go wild on their subreddits. Not labeling them as NFSW. Some legit advertisement next to someone g***** h*** would have rly hurt Reddit short and long term.
This on the other hand is nice for moral but you can just sit it out on Reddits side.
