today i learned there's a full series of base game weapons that gives +150% status chance. this is mostly only useful for the elder stage of endless recollection. but that was the stage i was having the most trouble with so i was pretty happy to find these. #pso2

another one bites the dust. now i just need to sit down with this argus video and figure out how he's saving 55 seconds somehow. maybe termina 5 is a lot more damage? i don't want to have to do that math though.

don't worry i nerd-sniped myself into doing some math that may or may not be right. turns out termina 5 is only like 1% more. i also realized that i'm at +61 enhancement on my bow, and argus might be at +70. so the first step is probably spending >1m n-meseta on gold primm sword IIs. but unless people start getting way into farming dread keeper V i can't really justify it.

@janejana i went ahead and did the math on that too. with 702 attack at +61 and 825 at +70, 1876 base attack from braver at lv.80, and 1844 defense for a level 75+ enemy, it's approximately a 16.8% damage increase. that and an alliance mag buff is probably most of the difference in actual damage.

...and while a +61 revita is enough to s-rank the quest, it's not enough to meet the bp requirements. i have to equip my verschmelz just to get in the door.

okay that wasn't so bad. better than halvadi for sure. some of the hurtboxes are a little questionable and i'm not sure breaking off the wing parts actually does anything, but it's still a good fight.

i already went and bought a fixa 3 revita bow so this is probably happening. i have to figure out how i lost so much time relative to argus though. some of that is gear/food/alliance mag but bow damage is tricky to optimize these days.

spent about 5 minutes trying to figure out what long range advantage does and why it wasn't doing what i expected against bujin in trania

apparently it's a known issue with the localization; it should say increased potency against enemies NOT targeting you. so it's unfortunately pretty useless in a solo context.

learned something new about base pso2 recently.

crafting can either get you a normal result or a great success, which has yellow text. if you get a great success and hit the best value possible, this shows up as orange text. this is very rare.

what i didn't know is that NPCs appear to have special reactions when this happens on a daily craft. you'd probably need to datamine to find them all, though.

Was trying to find out if Advance Quests or Ultimate Quests would be a better farm for tech discs. VHAQ Floating Facility dropped a ton of melee and ranged PA discs, while Ultimate Lillipa dropped...a single melee disc ​:blobfoxmeltsob:​

Soloing Anga Phandaj is not exactly dangerous as an Etoile, but it's still not an encounter you can sleepwalk through, so that was unexpectedly fun. :> I made the mistake of using both wand and double sabers on its first phase, so I had to use Soaring Blades on the second phase--I've never used Etoile SB outside of the class tutorial 😭 The only reason I had any equipped in the first place was that years ago I got a Steel series drop from the "normal" version of the Primordial Darkness UQ, lol.

Ofc I could exchange excubes for PA fragments but I try to avoid the Cradle/excube exchange grind as much as possible. I like having an excuse to play outdated quests.

@janejana oh i haven't done this in a while. my understanding is that rare variants of monsters drop more disks which is why both difficulties of advance quest are great for this. parallel areas are similarly very good although there's no guarantee you'll encounter one.

if you want to dig up even more old content, you could try running an abduction, which has tons of rare falspawn. my guess is that the up-front cost of running all the time attacks outweighs the lengthiness of the quest. but you might be able to find and sell some vets resolve too, if there's any interest on your ship.

today's incredibly minute base #pso2 trivia: uncharged kickshot combo zero does ~25% more damage than when charged. it's the case that most bow PAs in the base game are better uncharged with enough PP, but sega animated a bunch of flips and kicks for this that largely just reduce the damage output. also it has super armor which is handy.
