Saw a FB friend boosting some high end wireless earbuds that look good and reportedly outperform the standard Apple ones but for the pricepoint they want I'd rather get another pair of full sized wireless over the ears headphones, y'know?
I mostly use the adapter with IEMs these days. This pair's my current favorite – the price has gone up a bit since I bought them, but that's probably because of their much deserved reputation. (No inline mic or controls on the provided cord, though.)
A weird thing about buying manga digitally is that I often forget where a recommendation came from by the time a preorder's fulfilled. Digital books just arrive on my Kobo one day like a random gift from a stranger.
Holoplus opened its closed beta test for global and I'm in! (It's basically a company-run social media platform dedicated to Hololive prod. content.)
My expectations were pretty low, but exceeded! I don't have a lot of good experiences with niche community platforms for stuff like this, but, everything is super responsive and functioning! It doesn't seem to be completely based on web views that re-layout constantly as things load in.
My test-post w/ a pic of Smol Ame & Phố got a hundred or so likes which is cool (not that I really need the attention haha)
More importantly, the ability to report, hide, and block is available (haven't tested very much; no need to so far!)
It's not Fediverse, but it's small and very friendly for now. Activity is strong, but it just opened, so we'll see if people keep posting in the days to come~
@terrehbyte That’s great to hear! I was hoping it’d have a bit of a Miiverse vibe and it sounds a lot like that.
Not being on Twitter sometimes leaves me feeling a bit out of the loop too, especially when Fes was so quiet in Fediverse this year. It’ll be great to see fan posts and photos on HoloPlus next Fes.
This is a useful heads-up e.g. if you’re on a company Mac and trying to keep your work & personal data separate. Don’t trust iCloud Keychain to stay off. Create a work account. (And yeah, it sucks that Apple sucks at this.) #Apple#iCloud https://lapcatsoftware.com/articles/2024/5/4.html
Episode 0 of Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction is setting things off very differently from the manga. If they're doing right by it, we'll get some good tonal whiplash next week.
Getting more into #Hololive – I watched 3rd Fes this weekend. One of the highlights was noticing the choreography in Step and Go. Sora pulls off the foot clap when she sings "every day" so casually and smoothly you could almost miss it. Wow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG6yRuj3KkY
@invalidname@QuietMisdreavus I don’t miss Reddit. I was convinced I would when I nuked my account, but looking back there were too many negative and sus interactions like this, and it got worse over time.
I started hanging out on Discord more regularly instead, and was surprised that communities there are often healthier and more friendly than their equivalent subreddits. I just have to be thick skinned about being an Apple user.
@qgustavor I hadn't heard of StartAllBack – all I can think of is Kaai Yuki getting mad at her PC.
(I saw that the app predates the song by some years. I'm just really out of the loop when it comes to the things users do to make Windows livable. Dang.)
@chikorita157 7" is a little too small for manga. I read on a Kobo Aura One (7.8") which is fine for most manga but I have to zoom in for translation notes and anything with dense text. American-formatted comics are right out.
fwiw I'm happy with Kobo itself. I buy from the Kobo store so I use stock OS, but lots of people replace it for something faster at CBZ and other formats. One complaint I often hear from new owners is that Kobo dropped MicroSD for newer devices, so you can't expand storage for yourself.
Been hanging out in Champagne, IL the last few days and incredibly jealous of their bus system. Buses run regularly, routes cover the whole city, there are readable timetables at every shelter, and shelters and stops are well kept and signposted.
I’ve watched several premieres this week and so far the only shows that Ive been able to watch without yawning were Girls Band Cry and Eupho. Gonna catch up with Jellyfish Can’t Swin in the Night later today #anime
@literalgrill Yikes. When I saw the trailer it looked like it might go that way but I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt. Thanks for the warning.
@peribotsarahInfuse is the one I've been using for Apple devices. It's mostly good, except that it has a very strong preference for direct play with no apparent override. I have an older Apple TV that struggles with a couple of bigger encodes in my library, so it'd be handy to switch to a transcoded version when needed.
