Today's video is about two folk songs from Wales, both of which are lullabies: Ar Hyd y Nos (All Through the Night) and Suo Gân. I'm playing a medley of the two tunes on ocarinas.

I'd like to try my hand at making various instruments in the flute and whistle family before moving on to small-scale hand production (?)
So, after whistles and recorders, here's the prototype of an (probably 8 holes, in G but I don't have any plan so I'll experiment).
Internal air canal. I'm happy with the sound.
Branch aspect for this one. It's apple wood, it smells like cake.

A work surface seen from above: small tools, glue and sawdust.
A small disc of wood, cut from the same branch as the rest, is hollowed out to become a lid.
The branch is reassembled and glued.

Today marks 75 years since the first release of 45s on 31st March 1949. This one is considerably more recent, released by singer Ralph Glomp in 1989. Ralph usually sings in #Esperanto, although this one is in English and German... and yes I do have a small collection of weird and wonderful Esperanto 45s too!

Realised I'd never listened to @BBCRadio4 LW, so I thought I had better do so today before the opt-outs end this weekend.

This old bookshelf hi-fi is the only thing I have that can receive LW. And the radio is about the only thing still working on it!

@simonvarwell The opt-outs are ending and it will have exactly the same programmes as FM from Monday. Apparently there are plans to stop broadcasting on LW entirely, but I don't think they've said when that will be yet.

@simonvarwell There's Radio 4 Extra, which used to be called Radio 7. It just broadcasts archive programmes though.

@daweaver Supposedly the reason is that the transmitter uses old high-powered valves, and the knowledge of how to make them safely has been lost. So it'll be turned off when the last remaining one goes pop at the latest.

It's time for another vintage toy keyboard video - this time it's the Yamaha PSS-160, a keyboard from 1986 with some interesting square wave sounds. I'll take a look at the keyboard, and play two versions of the Scottish tune "Corn Rigs are Bonnie".

I forgot I had this until someone bought it. I’m really rough on it and use it to release anxiousness. I like the clicking sound.

I’m playing my Jewel Solitaire game on Steam on my PC with my right hand and fidgeting with this thing in my left hand, and while stim drinking coffee.

Embracing my autistic ways of self-soothing.

It’s funny… I’m using a fidget toy from my store, while wearing a spinner ring from my store, and wearing the Autistic Pride t-shirt from my store lol

This is what the inside of a portable gramophone :gramophone: looks like. The big metal thing going round the outside is the horn and is basically an acoustic amplifier. The spring motor is under the plate in the middle, and the thing sticking out to the left of it is the governor.

Here's a closer shot of the governor. This controls the speed of the turntable - basically the motor is a big coiled spring that wants to uncoil all at once, and the governor restricts it. When it spins, the three metal balls move outwards by centrifugal force, which pulls the plate at the left-hand end to the right. When the mechanism is up to speed, this plate touches against the friction leather, and so the governor (and thus the entire mechanism) is prevented from spinning any faster.
