@matthewcassinelli Off the top of my head, my "new video" shortcut grabs a video number (incrementing sequence I use for reference) from Data Jar, asks for the topic, creates a folder on my working drive for files, asks for a target publish date if known, creates an OmniFocus project w/ approx 20 tasks (template is in DataJar), creates a note in Obsidian (sounds similar to your iA document) and applies an Obsidian template

TIL USB-C trigger boards are a thing 🤯

I can finally charge up my Jackery external battery thingy with just a USB-C charger, instead of needing its bulky AC power brick (just modified its 12V car charger with the trigger board)

@christianselig "USB-C trigger board" made me think it was a board with a bunch of identical-looking USB-C ports and you had to guess which one was what data transfer speed or charging capacity using a handful of identical cables.

I have a question: I have a mini with a hardwired USB-A cable. I have varying levels of success getting it to work properly with my USB-C only MacBook Pro.

Have you tried this with a dock or an adapter that makes it work for you? If so please name names!

That said, I am also not averse to completing The Circle of StreamDeck Life, and selling the one I have to finance the one I want (: so if you're in the market for a classic, HMU (:

    Long ago I had this idea for a dumb bit, where I'd start YouTube channel doing 10-minute GIMP tutorials to teach people what I'd learned after using GIMP for a couple decades.

    The short version is it'd be one of those screen cast type videos, and every episode the entire 10 minutes would be filled with bullshit like dependency resolution problems preventing GIMP from launching, recompiling the Linux kernel because my graphic tablet stopped working again, and then recompiling the kernel again because the graphics tablet now works, but I can no longer capture sound in my recordings.

    Which orientation on the new iPads has the Apple "right-side up"?

    People have been telling me for years that the primary orientation of the iPad is landscape, but that Apple on the back has always suggested to me that that's just not true.

    A local Mediterranean restaurant offers some of the best fried potatoes I've ever eaten.

    There are two options: medium cut potato rounds and large cut potato rounds, and the size describes the diameter of the slices of potato that are then fried.

    The larger ones often end up in a super state where half of one is thin and crispy like an American "chip" (a UK crisp) while the other is thick and fluffy like an American fry (UK chip).

    They are amazing.

    I have witnessed multiple offices get nothing done for entire days after someone started a "is a hot dog a sandwich" debate.

    I assure you, no matter how well thought out you think your argument is, someone else has already countered it. It's a problem just like the Pluto problem: there's no definition of sandwich that will encapsulate everything you and Tim from accounting both think the definition is, and will one day require a new definition to concretely rule on whether a hot dog is or isn't a sandwich. (Just like with Pluto.)

    All I can say for sure is nearly half of the people who've ever had this debate are going to be really angry. (Just like with Pluto.)

    ❓Did Instagram change their color temperature and exposure handling lately? Any previously edited photo uploaded to Instagram looks totally blasted out after posting. Photos that look ok in drafts get big color shifts and exposure changes after.

    It’s been this way for a couple weeks. It’s annoying that a photo app can’t do WYSIWYG editing reliably.

    Is it just me? Makes me never want to post to Instagram again.
