For the first time in a very long time I was able to celebrate my birthday with my friends!! Orangetheory with the crew this morning (working out with a crown and sash is hard!) and dinner with my boyfriend at a winery tonight. A rainbow capped off the day. I loved every minute working at Apple, but celebrating today without the overtones of the conference was really special.

Tonight at my nail salon, the young woman next to me had a medical emergency. The swiftness and fury with which this room of all women, presumably at least some mothers based on age, leapt into action to support her was astonishing. Women are incredibly badass, and women collectively going into “protection” mode is a force of nature.

The Husbands by Holly Gramazio was an interesting read. The writer writes for video games, which I could sort of feel (in a good way.) It got a little repetitive and one note… maybe would have really shined as a novella? But it was new and different and creative!

I tried a new company for my vaguely-annual carpet cleaning. The technician finished and said, “it’s fine to walk on it, but before you do, wipe your feet…” then he looked at Toby and said, “…and your paws.” So safe to say they’re officially my new carpet cleaning company.
