Emphatically disagree.

It’s whatever the noise a ball bearing dropped on glass or another hard surface makes as the bounce decays ;-)

I thought I would find a million hits on YouTube but nadda… If I can’t find something by the weekend I’ll record and upload one myself :-)

So 214 people let the battery on their (USB Rechargeable) insulin pump die and reported it to the FDA…

Then again Tandem is kind of a shitty company. They based their algorithm in part on data from insulin pumps that had been returned to the manufacture for a software update. Without consent.

Switched from an industry standard luer-lock connector to a proprietary one after purchase. Then required all supply ordering to go through their own sales department and a single manufacturer.

Camped on the design for a small portable pump they patented back in 2012 until there was a viable competitor with innovative technology.

You know what… I think I have a phone call to make :-)

Clearly it’s a transmitter. That cat is responsible for exactly 1/5th of all the weird shit you think about.

At this point I’m assuming most if not all of these content deals are essentially retroactive. They already scrapped the content and found it useful enough to try and secure future use, or at least exclude competitors.

[…]will only take a few hallucinations before no one trusts LLMs to write code or give advice

Because none of us have ever blindly pasted some code we got off google and crossed our fingers ;-)

sramder,
@sramder@lemmy.world avatar

Which is why I used the former as an example and not the latter.

I’m not trying to make a general case for AI generated code here… just poking fun at the notion that a few errors will put people off using it.

Really thought we were done planking ☹️

Hum… this was one of the original reasons I signed up with them. I totally missed them dropping support. I’m not mad about it because I don’t torrent much anymore, but it’s still a pretty lame excuse.

I want all my services supporting maximum fuckery at all times as a matter of general principle.

Any alternatives that you know of?

sramder,
@sramder@lemmy.world avatar

Thanks for the tip, I’ll check them out.

I can’t honestly say I’ve ever had much trouble with it either. No trouble receiving files at least… there wasn’t much outbound traffic, but that could just have been a lack of interest :-)

I’m happy with Mulvad’s service and now that the initial shock and indignation is wearing off I’ll probably stick with them.

Besides I read about their new traffic obfuscation and I’ve got to give that a try. We need proactive innovation like that, now more than ever.

Thank you. It’s good to know I have a few options.

You just have to weigh your own shit once… there’s even a poop-knife included in case it’s to massive for your scale.

[Serious] What is project 2025? What kind of risk is involved?

I’m Canadian and we have our own issues with far right nutjobs but I’ve heard the phrase “Project 2025” thrown around and the little I’ve seen about it frightens me. I don’t follow the news for the sake my mental health but could someone explain it in depth? What kind of a shit show are we looking at? Unfortunately...

Honestly the best summary I’ve read so far and I actually downloaded the PDF 😬

sramder,
@sramder@lemmy.world avatar

Like with this movie specifically? Or he’s got a pattern? Because you could cut hours out of this and still have a serviceable plot.

I can’t really blame you. I think 300 was good, everything else was kinda meh.

sramder,
@sramder@lemmy.world avatar

I figured it would have some cool slow-mo spear chucking, I was not disappointed.

Honestly they are already starting to run together, but I think there were 3 of them in the first movie alone.

sramder,
@sramder@lemmy.world avatar

Hahahaha I would also agree with this. One of my friends said it was originally pitched as a Star Wars film and Lucas rejected it… not sure if that’s true, but it’s 100% believable.

sramder,
@sramder@lemmy.world avatar

That’s entirely fair, it’s a stretch at best.

I think it’s hard to find a modern movie that really has that special charm. There are few hidden gems that don’t cater to some specific fetish. “Independent” means a modest 20 million dollar budget… I’m not a huge fan of the made to be campy genre — Zombeavers was good though.

They definitely never picked a lane with any of there design language. It seemed like someone just went though and made a list of all the stuff they thought was cool form the last 20 years. In one scene you have people fighting with laser rifles, laser swords, and regular axes.

Somewhere in the second half of production they decide that you really have no reason to care about anyone, so everyone gets a full 5-10 min backstory all back-to-back. Large portions of the plots could be randomly replaced without significantly altering the flow of the movie… and it does briefly feature muscular shirtless men riding huge eagles. Turn down the terrible plot and add some prog-rock and you’ve got a rock opera? ;-)

I think it would make a decent rifftrax movie, it’s got enough nonsense and long dramatic pauses. But yeah, I certainly wouldn’t put it one with a bunch of friends more than once… and a proper B movie keeps giving :-)

I’m going for a proper classic next time. Anyone seen Class of 1999?

sramder,
@sramder@lemmy.world avatar

I’m going to have to watch an interview someday… some measure of excess ego is required to be a Hollywood director, but doing anything with this other than just cashing the paycheck seems wholly delusional ;-)

sramder,
@sramder@lemmy.world avatar

I was scratching my head too…

sramder,
@sramder@lemmy.world avatar

I’m still not entirely convinced people don’t join just so they can be dicks with impunity and collect a top tier salary/benefits package… I know there are good people too, but it’s hard to believe in the system as a whole lately.

But simply blaming capitalism is shortsighted. Which isn’t what you said, but I feel it’s worth stating. Incomplete theories lead to imperfect solutions and policing in this country is in desperate need of reforms.

sramder,
@sramder@lemmy.world avatar

They just killed my nest cameras, but the thermostat is still supported. I was planning on replacing it with an ecobee this year just because API access is kind of a pain but this is giving me some second thoughts.

sramder,
@sramder@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah. Although they were honestly long past their prime, and I wasn’t using them anymore so it’s hard to be upset.

They could even be set in RSTP mode before they dropped support from the app, so they could still be useful.
