New to polish, question about yellowing

I started to polish my nails about 6 weeks ago. When changing polish I’ve noticed my nails getting yellower at the tips. I’ve read that the offending ingredient is nitrocellulose, which my base coat has (OPI natural nail) and probably the other coats as well (Essie, Seche Vite). My color polish is typically a light/natural...

Wearing no base coat may be worse, in my experience. I think some colors are just worst offenders than others, like more pigmented cremes versus glitters or jellies. I find that the yellowing sorts itself out if I e.g. wear less-staining polishes for a while, but it’s not like I’m tracking it super closely. I also find that wearing blurring base coats or opposite-toned sheers kind of evens out the staining and that’s enough for it to not bother me, but honestly. My nails are always painted so it’s not like I would even notice it 😅

Without the flash, for reference! I quite like how these polishes sparkle off of regular overhead light but in pictures I can only get “cartoonishly bright” or “kinda bland white noise-ish” 🤷

I am playing dredge right now! Very close to finishing the main quest, just want to get some more fish under my belt eheh. I agree that it hasn’t quite been horrifying but I think they did a great job at “creepy” and at creating the circumstances to make you a more reckless fisherman the longer you play (every time I sleep through the day I remember the mayor telling me how unreliable the previous fisherman was bc he slept through the day to go out at night…)

It’s actually really impressive that over 45 minutes it didn’t thicken!! I can’t think of another way to thicken polish other than mix with another one but then the color would be messed up. Could painting more coats help with the peeling?
