So apparently MacOS 14 isn't available for devices from 2017 — so I'd need to buy a new mac, even though mine works perfectly fine, to use this app (MacOS 13 is still well supported by Apple)

Apparently Apple considers devices “vintage" when they're between 5 and 7 years old; so hardware that works perfectly well from 2017 becomes un-upgradable in 2023/24

I can't see any information on how long Apple will continue to support MacOS Ventura (13)

The app is completely free. Requires macOS 14.

Either drag & drop an icon onto the menu bar or Dock icon, or click either of them to pick an icon. The icons update if the files change on disk. And you can automate it with Shortcuts.

Apple broke non-String AppEnum in App Intents as of macOS 14.4 / iOS 17.4, so if you have say a widget with configuration parameters where the value is an AppEnum backed by an Int, those parameters just won't work and will always use the default value. Nice! (FB13737909)

I'm still hoping for Apple to add support for time-limited trials and paid upgrades to the App Store. No, I'm not interested in IAP. Maybe EU could force them.

@nealyoung I did consider icon and more styling, but it couldn't think of anything that would look better, hence this post. Icons quickly become noisy. And I also don't want the text to take attention away from the actual events. So it has to be something subtle.

  1. Agreed about spacing. They are intentionally not using a hairline as that would make them look too much like events.

@gregtitus I did consider a horizontal rule, but it would look out of place when everything else is left-aligned, including the headers.
