Did anyone build a search engine including only websites without any JavaScript ? (Not a proxy that strips JS — rendering the site unuseable — sites that don’t contain any as is).
Had an amazing morning at the in-person @css__cafe meetup with great talks and demos by @rachelnabors, @utilitybend, and Lucas Bonomi. Now I’m on the train home from #CSSDay. So much to think and write about! 🤗
I wonder if reporters know that Wikipedia hallucinates too?? And since they so often consider Wikipedia authoritative, that means reporters and their publications hallucinate as well.
@zachleat I was also anti-case until they got suuuper slippery. One slid off the sofa, and fell flat face down (not even corner first) onto a wooden floor (not even concrete!) and the screen shattered.
I just don't trust the strength of the screens any more. I had several Moto G phones that had rubberised backs and could be juggled without worry, survived loads of falls.
I also wish I just didn't drop them in the first place, but eh 🤷
From years of being bored, unsatisfied, or struggling in various jobs and industries, I finally feel like I have come home.
I'm so happy to join an industry with such brilliant, interesting, and gloriously nerdy people - I mean this in the best possible way!
I have attended both Beyond Tellerrand Düsseldorf and CSS Day 2024 and, wow. Huge thank yous to the organisers, speakers, and to the many warm and funny fellow attendees I had the joy to socialise with.
All these people I'd come to admire on twitter started heading over to Mastodon. I started using the account I'd set up there when Musk brought his kitchen sink in, and everyone was so follow-back-happy then!
It felt like cheating, totally short-circuiting the huge hustle and consistent engagement effort required in twitter to even get seen never mind replied to or followed back.
So people know me. I turn up to this flagship CSS event for the first time and mingle HARD. I'm so grateful 🧡
Finally - some people lament the end of the old web, the tinkering, the creativity - it really is still there, you know.
Every now and then I get an email from someone wanting to join https://cs.sjoy.lol and while many are familiar from my Mastodon dev circle, others are not, and they are a delight.
They maybe come from Neocities, or Melon Land, they're learning from HTML up, not React down.
It's all still there. Just a lot more mainstream internet has been added since the before times.
