Had to come here quick just to say it's raining here pretty hard right now. With a few lighting and thunder here and there.

The first rain of May.

Local folklore says the first rain of May is a cure-all when you shower in it. Well, it's a cure for the disarming heat alright, that's for sure.

I've just read about the Penlab/Kalabaw Studios controversy, leading to Komiket rescinding its working relationship with them. Apparently the owner of Penlab was accused of abuse and exploitation of fellow komiks artists (I've read accounts on Facebook, and it's sad to read how they'd been taken advantage of). Penlab has been banned from all future Komiket events forthwith.

Oh! It was supposed to rain beginning today. But it didn't. Maybe tomorrow? It was less hot by a couple of degrees, but still hot. The forecast is for rain in the next few days.

Oh finally. My mom is able to watch Netflix without it buffering. It's quite odd because the results of the speed test are good but some sites like Shopee won't load (but Lazada loads!).

Now internet is back to normal. For both Chrome and Firefox. I switched to Firefox because it was faster. I hope it stays this way (and I hope the solar storm is on its way to over).

All of a sudden the internet slowed down... but only on my laptop (and the tv). I checked the internet speed test on my phone and it's plenty fast. But on my laptop it's super slow. I tried changing DNS , but the speed is not improving. I disabled all bandwidth-hogging tasks via Task Manager, and it's still not improving. I wonder what could be the reason. A friend is blaming it on the geomagnetic storm.

@jikodesu I've cleared cache and data already. Most websites load ok naman, but for some reason Shopee won't load. And Netflix loads slowly on the tv. But yes, I haven't defragged in a long time.

My niece didn't join our Mother's Day lunch today because she was still groggy this morning after her graduation ball last night. Anyway, the lunch was great (bbq chicken and samgyupsal, with fresh lumpia ubod), and instead of cake, my sister brought yummy coffee buns (kopi roti)! Now my mom is napping, and I am enjoying my coffee bun.

I cleared the Shed yesterday. Put it all on the lawn. Took 3 car loads to the tip.

I have 6 suitcases of science fiction books to sift through.
Most will be donated.

I told my OH that my books were like my children. My OH laughed.

I have to decide which Authors to keep.

I may photograph the spines and start using my empty Kindle.

@rLok I remember going with my German classmate to yum cha in Sydney and I introduced her to chicken feet. Hahaha! She closed her eyes and ate them, and then ate more with her eyes open. She loved it.

What’s a word or phrase in a language you speak that describes someone who is nervous? Not just nervous about an exam or something but like, you’re at an airport and the person next to you is shuffling anxiously not wanting to miss the boarding announcement even though it’s at least an hour away, and they just can’t stop shuffling? More a way of being.

@skinnylatte We'd call that person "praning" (accent on the second syllable), or Filipino slang for "paranoid". People who are praning are sometimes in a mixed state of hyper-awareness and anxiety. They make backups of backups.

Friend H doesn't like Friend C because of past history (Friend C was a bad buyer and took a long time paying the full amount required). C is currently undergoing hard times, so is not in a position to change H's opinion of her. I am caught in between. I wonder how I am still able to keep both of them my friends. I just know how hard it was for C to ask for help, and that she is currently working her butt off to afford things. H is privileged, so doesn't see that part of C's life. 1/n

I said, if C doesn't owe X anything right now, what's it to you? Sure, she had a hard time paying off her debt but she paid it. You could just decide not to lend anything next time, instead of all this suspicion and blamestorming. C's new friends pooled together items for a garage sale to help her out, and it's out of the goodness of their hearts. So leave her alone. Finally H let it go. I told C about it and she cried and said it's all she could do to keep holding on. 4/n

I mean, just to be right, are you going to stop other people from helping another person who needs it? I don't understand all the hate. As if H and her friends had nothing better to do. They don't bully her, they just have this overweening air of disapproval. Anyway C just got a gig from a retailer, so I hope that solves some of her recent woes. 5/5
