#Jellyfin 10.9.6 seems to have Jellyfin stable now. Props out to the devs who have worked non-stop the past month to react to bugs as they come in, some catastrophic.

After nearly a month of checking on my logs periodically in real time after the 10.9.* upgrade and the 5 patch releases to fix bugs, I think it is safe to close out my live log refreshing.

I'm going to manually run all scheduled tasks, one by one. There might be a task that hasn't run due to its schedule that may cause problem.🤓

Every time I receive some bullshit "expert commentary" from a PR agency — and there's been no shortage this week — I die a little inside. And then I add the entire PR agency's domain to my Gmail block list and forget they ever existed.

Gmail filters are the greatest. I have scroll after scroll of them. It helps that the three dot dropdown in every email has a 'Filter messages like these' option.

I use filters to send a lot of senders or key phrases, that I don't want to block but don't want the clutter, that will end up in the trash anyways, directly to the trash bin and occasionally look at the search in:trash is:unread to make sure I didn't miss anything important.

Ha. I magnified mine a long time ago to 120 and it really does make a difference.

I think it is the fonts more than my vision that makes it straining.

Does MSTDN have other themes? Some instances have the BirdUI which really changes the look and feel. Sometimes it's called Elephant or something.

10.9.5. upgraders

If you have an issue with a locked database and media scanning failing, Set Dashboard -> General -> Performance -> Set "Parallel library scan tasks limit" and "Parallel image encoding limit" both to 1

That worked for me.

Got an email and a text just a few minutes ago for planned Maintenance to improve services.

When you send this out a half hour before you start, it isn't planned maintenance.

If it truly was planned maintenance, you need to let people in on the plan a little sooner.

Also, they will turn the switch off at midnight and not turn it back on until 6am, regardless of if they start late or get finished early.

Finally, every time Spectrum improves a feature, they take a feature away.

I saw a post linking to an Aileen Cannon complaint generator the other day.🤭 I think it was a Google Docs document with suggestions on what to say. I watched a video about complaining on her, too, but it was more cautious in its delivery than the Google Docs thing.

I'm going to have to turn off news notifications this weekend for one local news station's phone app.

For the last many years, they pick one school to live stream its graduation ceremony on air, social media and in their app.

Part of this includes taking a photo and sending an app notification FOR EVERY student graduating, AS they get their diploma. One by one, notifications come in–No way to turn it off except to disable notifications. Hundreds.

It's not cute. It's annoying.

The other day, there was a stock market software glitch that made it appear that the sky was falling

Phone alerts were blasted, and even local news had financial experts on for a bit at some point.

Later, it was revealed to be a software glitch

I accidently came across 1 news item that reported there was a glitch in the software.

How many regular people are still thinking there was a bad dip in the stock market the other day?

If they blast breaking news, then it's an oops, blast the oops.

@moira Up where you have the sliding wall, currently is an old school accordian wall, separating the den I am now with what was the living but is now the bedroom.

Also, off the carport is the only area that we have has a patio/yard and we are kind of making that our outdoor sanctuary,

Probably would want to push the laundry and half bath to the living room/bath side and make a "great room" kitchen with the current kitchen and carport. Then the outdoor will be part of the planning

@moira Now that you mentioned it, it probably would be better to have them under the counter. Then I could at least help out. As it stands now, my contribution to laundry is gathering and putting in hampers and folding after they are out. Of course, do I want to do away with the access accuse and do laundry? lol😂

No diss to devs, but 10.9.* has been a disaster of a release across all platforms. Now up to 10.9.4 with more coming soon. The newest is shows disappearing, scan failures, etc.

I hope at some point a release autopsy is done to figure out what went wrong

My guess is not enough non-dev beta testers across different platforms & devs working only with the platform of their preference–things getting merged not fully tested across platforms

To their credit, Jellyfin is on many platforms

2/ Another 10.9.* release. This time 10.9.5 that fixes an error where media files were getting deleted when only metadata should have been

Jellyfin should have sent out an urgent warning as soon as they discovered and confirmed that 10.9.4 introduced a bug that was deleting media files.

The question now is, do we upgrade, downgrade to a really safe version, or do something else altogether...
