Weil sich offensichtlich einige ueber von aufregen. Fair enough!

Laeuft lokal (deshalb ja auch die geforderte NPU, die die OEMs einbauen muessen) und soll(!) nicht von Microsoft abgerufen werden.

Genau in dem Moment muss sich jeder ueberlegen ob er das nutzt oder nicht. Ich kann mir durchaus Anwendungsszenarien vorstellen.

Wuerde ich es nutzen? Nein!
Sollte Microsoft hier auf Opt-In switchen? Ja!

Das passt zum Vorsitzenden einer religiösen Partei: Auf Wunder warten, welche der Liebe Gott — dieses Mal nicht durch Engel, sondern durch "Ingenieure und Erfinder" — auf Erden werden lässt. #Merz kann mit dieser Einstellung ja gerne Prediger werden, aber in der Politik hat er damit nichts verloren!

Bei #KingCharles wurde der Krebs in einem frühen Stadium entdeckt, er wird eine „bahnbrechende Behandlung” erhalten. Gut für ihn.

Die meisten Engländer bekommen nicht einmal in 6 Monaten Arzttermine, um Krebs frühzeitig zu entdecken bzw. zu behandeln.

Neoliberalismus tötet.

Also ganz so ist es auch nicht, aber die Wartezeiten sind zum Teil schon erschreckend. Hier aber mittlerweile auch, so viel nimmt sich das nicht.

Bei Krebs geht es zwischen Diagnose und Beginn der Behandlung auch in UK relativ fix, so ca. 1-2 Wochen. Habe allerdings auch schon erlebt, dass die Unterlagen zwischen zwei Instituten (Luftlinie 200m) verloren gingen und das dann nochmal 2 Wochen Wartezeit draufgeschlagen hat.

Gerechtigkeit - ja, teilweise.

Meine Erfahrung war mehr dass sie einem "one size fits all" Lösungen andrehen wollten, d.h. wenn die von der NHS favorisierte Therapie oder Medikamente nichts für dich sind, hast Du Pech gehabt. Extrawurst gibt es halt nicht.

Ja, absolut. Dieser Wust an Krankenkassen und damit verbundener Verwaltungsaufwand ist einfach irre.

Noch toller finde ich ja den Datenschutz in Deutschland, der bedeutet dass kein Arzt auf meine komplette bisherige Krankengeschichte zugreifen kann.

In "Galaxy's Child", La Forge's response to Leah Brahms calling out his over-familiarity and telling him off for creating the holographic simulation of her has not aged well. She didn't give consent, so she has a right to feel violated.

@lothcat I've been on a Star Trek rewatch since October. By now, I'm in the Delta quadrant with Captain Janeway and the crew of Voyager.

Some early Star Trek episodes are groundbreaking classics, and others have aged like milk.

For example, Seven of Nine is a fantastic character - but what's with her costume?
Why do all female characters wear boots with heels? Why are all humanoid alien species heterosexual and monogamous? Etc.

Jeri Ryan had to wear a special corset under the suit. And particular consideration went into the construction of the chest area to make the fabric hug the boobs instead of spanning between the highest points like it would normally do.
All totally normal things to present a female character...

Yesterday I also stumbled across the nostalgic Disneyland-like presentation of various European locations, like France, Scotland or Ireland, typically in holodeck episodes. It's always a pile of romanticised stereotypes to the point of being really insulting.

Sort of. It was one of those costumes where you need to tell them 20 minutes in advance if you need to go to the bathroom.
As a result, the actors are almost always dehydrated.

I watched 'Fair Haven' yesterday and was cringing so hard, I almost fell off the sofa...

I agree with almost all points of this review. Particularly regarding the question 'should the Captain have a romance with a holo character?'

As far as I know, it's pretty standard for performers in some costumes (see also Marvel superhero films) and/or prosthetics. I don't know if SAG-AFTRA have any regulations for that?

The premise of Star Trek is amazing - utopian society, Star Fleet directives and all.

But of course the actual TV episodes are steeped in the cultural views of their time and some of them are problematic from today's point of view.

I do like that for example in Lower Decks it's actually taken for granted, that holodecks are being used mostly for 'personal recreation' aka sex.

We all knew, all the time, finally someone said it.

    Ich hatte erst relativ spät fahren gelernt und mein Mann war der Meinung, mir ununterbrochen 'Ratschläge' zu geben.
    "Ich will doch nur helfen!"

    Bis ich ihn dann am Bahnhof aus dem Auto warf und ihm sagte, er kann den Zug nach Hause nehmen.
    Da war dann endlich Ruhe.

    In Kurzfassung: sie bereiten sich nicht nur auf die Apokalypse vor, sie sind der Meinung, diese ist notwendig und muss herbeigeführt werden.
