My latest work post is up!

I charged through Dmitri Alperovitch and Garrett M. Graaf's book "World on the Brink: How America Can Beat China in the Race for the Twenty-First Century" and found it a great, practical contribution to critically necessary discussions on how to navigate some of the most complex problems of our twenty-first century.

This @TalosSecurity post on newly-named APT LilacSquid is great. Lots of technical detail laid out in a very progressive way.

In playing with the Network IOCs I noticed something that I don't think was mentioned though. I expect each IP is primarily there for torguard reasons, but passive DNS also shows 3 of the 4 IPs have QNAP and/or Synology NAS records as well.

Maybe unrelated, but interesting for a data theft actor.

That Geoff White guy is absolutely rocking the promotion of his new book "Rinsed", all about money laundering. I thought I could hide in this launderette to escape from it, but no such luck!

Seriously, delighted to get my hands on a copy of "Rinsed" - and I'm confident it will be just as gripping a read as @geoffwhite247's "Crime dot com" and "The Lazarus Heist."

Oh this new one from @dangoodin is wild. Connects the dots between a great report from Lumen on an unnamed destructive event and the real-world happening that bricked 6-7 figures of an ISP's home routers.

Anyone have a good IOC IP list for RaspberryRobin?

(Starting to search now, but worth asking. External request from a pal, not an internal investigation)

A learned colleague recently pointed out that Cogent securitized an IPv4 block for $206 million.

Just, y'know, in case you were wondering what stage of capitalism the internet had hit.

Was reminded yesterday that the Stasi HVA (foreign intelligence service) division responsible for active measures/disinformation and political warfare within Germany was known as X.

Not that Musk is smart enough or well-read enough to know this, but it's certainly an interesting reprint from history.
