So… People put stuff in their robots.txt to “prevent” malicious scraping of their data for machine learning purposes. I hope everybody understands that this is just a “please don’t take my data” sign on the front lawn. We should be creating heaps of adversarial data instead. Data suitable to taint those datasets.

Diesen Sommer hat mir die Deutsche Bahn über ihre tolle NEXT-App (die jetzt nahtlos aus der Pannenbeta in den Pannenregelbetrieb übergegangen ist) 2 Fahrradtickets für Züge ohne Radabteil verkauft. Trotz mehrfachem hin- und her per mail und Brief (sie wollten, dass ich ihnen "die Fahrkarten zusende") gab es bisher keinen Rekurs. Aktueller Stand: vier Briefe mit Bitte um Mitteilung der Verspätung.

Was für ein verachtenswerter Konzern, der seine Quasimonopolstellung derartig an Kunden auslässt.

Once you get the hang of it, OpenSCAD isn't terribly complicated. The learning curve is a treat. Took me a few hours work from never really using it to a finished shape of an e-paper display holder that snaps into USM-Haller modular furniture. Now printing this will prove the bigger challenge with overhangs in all dimensions and orientations but that's a problem for tomorrow-me.

Sind technische Studiengänge in Deutschland eigentlich immer noch so schlimm? Ich bin damals raus, weil wir code auf Paper runter schreiben sollten, man hart und ohne Witz auf deutschen Fachbegriffen bestand (Keller, Halde, Hafen), und mir classfull routing als Lösung für richtige Dimensionierung von Netzblöcken (vom Leiter des lokalen Fraunhofer-Instituts, der eine der Basis-Vorlesungen hielt) präsentiert wurde. Ausserdem waren die Komilitonen arg hässig. Das war mir dann irgendwann zu dumm.

I have some haunting memories of the smell of that stuff because I cleaned a set of devices for a client with it for two days straight and it really made me not enjoy any drinks with orange zests in them, leave alone orange juice... for. weeks. but! If you need to clean a surface and don't want to use heavy solvents, give WEICON Industrial Citrus Cleaner (with lemonene being the main cleaning agent) a try! It dissolves left over adhesives in the blink of an eye. (not a paid advertisement)
