Torrents yes, always VPN. If you’re doing the debrid route, not required but personally I still do.
I am a big fan of mullvad VPN as they take no info from you to create an account. Can pay with crypto. No name, email or anything tied to their service. Used proton, nord and pia in the past.
As I was searching for a few questions I had I ended up on the reddit sub. So unfortunately got exposed already to it… toxic is right! Sheesh. Thank you for the tip about keeping up to date. That was sort of a question I had. I’ll probably just have it on a scheduled task.
Washington Post is the only newspaper app I have, mainly because I have a free subscription. I have really enjoyed it thusfar and use it as my usual source for news. It’s “War In Ukraine” was a great section till they really toned down the coverage of it. This is really concerning and this was a great story by sfgate. I am about to be much more skeptical of what I am seeing by them.
NPRs “up first” podcast today had an entire section about this today.
I will say a day or two later I am really enjoying it thus far. A bit turned off by the manual install but now I know exactly what is on my system, like you said “curated” and I am really liking yay.
Do we think they are going to charge for this once out of beta? Even though they have done great work on making it anonymous, I don’t see anything about them not using the input/output as data to “better” their service. So perhaps it would remain free?
I am using this: github.com/oobabooga/text-generation-webui … It is running great with my AMD 7900XT. It also ran great with my 5700xt. It sets up itself within a conda virtual environment so it takes all mess out of getting the packages to work correctly. It can use NVIDIA cards too.
Once you get it installed you can then get your models from huggingface.co
I’m on arch, btw. ;)
Edit: I just went and reinstalled it and saw it supports these gpus
I use mixtral8x7b locally and it’s been great. I am genuinely excited to see ddg offering it and the service in general. Now I can use this service when not on my network.
