I had two assumptions in the past.

  1. People who drive for Uber do it because they need extra cash.

  2. People who buy a Tesla have too much cash.

But while in California last week a good number of Uber cars were Teslas.

Can someone make it make sense for me?

@rasterweb I don't know how common it is, as I use the service very infrequently, but for sure some folks just pick people on on their way to work/school/the gym. I can't remember why I did it, maybe I was hurt or something, or maybe the bike was in the shop but they guy that took me to work once when I worked in St. Paul was one of those guys.

  1. would you be interested in playing to same role again?

@wjmaggos @ryno @wiloma @blocsonic @lorenzosmusic can't remember if this was before or after the cutoff when we were talking about leveling up, but there probably is an opportunity with bandcamp. they already promote a half-decent about of #ccmusic. just last week they had a write-up on Yes No Wave Records. I think the problem is they never talk about ccmusic as an entity and I feel like that's an easy switch to flick if we can just get them to do it

Have you heard of any arguments from users for not turning on federation? I can't imagine one. Any failure to do so yet has to be people who haven't heard of it or don't understand what it is.

@wjmaggos I mean the obvious argument is that Meta will take care of them because their share holders depend on retaining users and federation is anarchy.

I don't know anyone that openly believes that (also, I don't know anyone on Threads) but I'm sure they exist

The most amusing thing today is my "Encyclopaedia Metallum" page that someone filled in and added all my old bands (click on the "Past Bands" tab) because while it is technically accurate three of those bands never played shows and one or two of them never recorded anything. (Also, they were mostly punk/hardcore bands.)
