My rose bloomed again and smells so sweet. It's a smell I'll remember and I'll be reminded of this time of my life when I smell something similar in 20 years time. ๐น
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in a relationship?
Mine might sound kind of dark in relation to the question, but here goes:
People change, and they should, it's part of being a person. Some people are lucky, and they change in the same direction, but some don't, and that's okay too. There's no shame in leaving a relationship or changing the nature of a relationship that no longer serves you. We are all taught that every relationship, whether romantic or friendship, is supposed to last forever, but nothing is forever, and forcing something that no longer works, just ends in anger and bitterness. Knowing when to let go is as important as knowing when to hold on through a rough patch, and how to know either of those things is the most clichรฉ advice of all, COMMUNICATE.
@RickiTarr My advice would be to be yourself right from the start. If you don't like something, say you don't like it. If you do like something, say you like it. Don't hide yourself in case it's embarrassing or different, and don't pretend to love something you've never experienced. If your partner differs to you then either they'll adapt to you or they're not right for you. Lying about the small things is never a good way to start.
Why do all new kitchens look like spaceships these days? Everything is white, flat and featureless.

@Troggie I feel the same way when I watch Homes Under the Hammer and they say, "I've created a grey and white box with grey and white carpets and a grey and white kitchen and a grey and white bathroom!" Then someone says, "oh this is very high end..."
Bullshit. I don't want to move in and rip out a load of brand new things just because someone was terrified of anything that wasn't monochrome.
Also, renting a white box is miserable. Give me the rainbow! ๐
I'm not sure where Jenkins has gone. I can't find him anywhere. He must be hiding in his box of hay and definitely isn't going up the stairs where he shouldn't be. I'm sure I'll find him eventually...
@trixter Not an ink recommendation, I just wanted to be excited about the notebook. I LOVE the 1917s. I've used 6 or 7 over the years, all in different colours. They are perfect for fountain pens.
Now that I have a job and a start date, I'm able to end my Job Seekers Allowance claim.
Oh my word, these people are not prepared for people to actually get a job. At my initial interview they went into great detail about how I'd be penalised for not seeking work. When she asked if I had questions I said yes, what do I do when I find work? It wasn't something they felt they needed to cover.
I went in today and it was like I was from another planet.

I was told to go in and fill out a form. The security guy kept asking, "do you have an appointment?" He told me to sit and wait for someone to talk to me.
Then a woman comes over and I ask for the form. She has no idea about it and messages someone. She gives me the wrong form, tells me to go away, and to expect a call in half an hour. (I'd gone in to avoid a call...)
I get a call (on time!) from another person who says the right form is waiting for me. So I go back and fill it in.

@BonehouseWasps It's air traffic control related so it's entirely office-based (or "radar-based" I guess). I'm not sure I could work from home all the time. I'd go out of my mind.

I'd take myself off to a European city for a weekend and not go with anyone. I'd eat at times that worked for me (totally against the norm) and sit in the hotel/apartment for hours to read instead of sightseeing.
Being alone and moving to my own schedule completely away from home is the best way to regulate for me.
Others got mad at my choices but I really felt the benefit.
I've just discovered that A Gentleman in Moscow has been made into a thing for Paramount+.
Originally it was Kenneth Branagh in the main role but now it's Ewan McGregor.
A Gentleman in Moscow is one of the most special and wonderful books I've read so far in my life. Ewan McGregor was my first one true love when I was younger.
I'm not sure how to feel about this but then it's Paramount+ so I can't watch it anyway. Maybe that's for the best.
Hypothetical question about selling houses in the UK:
If my relative was a landlord, they died and I inherited the house with tenants, could I offer the house to the tenants to buy it for ยฃ1? So they'd have a place to live, forever owned by them, and I'd be free of it completely.
Is that a thing? What would be the repercussions of attempting to do this?
N.B: my relatives aren't landlords so this isn't an actual thing, it's just a thought experiment I had. #Housing#UK
