I was told once that Mastodon is a friendly void that yells back. I really like that.

The world is a big place filled with terrible and wonderful things. I sometimes comment on them at length.

This morning thing...

Is it going to just keep happening?

mentallyalex,
@mentallyalex@beige.party avatar

@Mrfunkedude sometimes it even runs long.

Pretty sure at this point it's intentional. No way we have had this many years of them without it being on purpose.

@Mrfunkedude The question becomes... from whom?

My guess is "Big breakfast". What are those peoples deal with trying to make me eat 400 things when I just woke up? :blobCatSipGlare:

Did I just use Myers-Briggs Disney Princesses to talk to someone about his feelings?

Yes, yes I did.

Did it work?

@LoganFive a flame can be seen erupting and twisting into the sky. The formation looks to be as a fiery snake preparing to strike at a firemen hunkered down as if to leap away.

If you ever feel out of touch, I was today years old when I learned there is a band named "Lady Antebellum".

What an interesting naming convention.

Looking to get off Twitter. The one thing really keeping me there is the larger community of poets, who are inventive and fascinating but also incredibly resistant to change. So if you're on Mastodon, and a poet, and I don't follow you, hit me up so I can change that.

mentallyalex,
@mentallyalex@beige.party avatar

@juliancday I would encourage you to find thosenof us in the #WritingCommunity hashtag. Mastodon doesn't have an algorithm so unless you follow them or a hashtag they use, you won't see them unless someone you follow boosts them.

I would also look to @EgyptianAphorist he is a somewhat popular poet here. ;)

The organized conservative campaign against trans lives is a tool of the right to raise money, extract control, and build arguments with a direct line to fascism. It inspires stochastic terrorism against trans people. It’s also a practice ground for all of the ways that fascism can come for any of us.

A gift link follows. Don’t ignore this.

@rebeccabguinn I hope you take a moment to consider the sources of the information as you're receiving them.

Several here have given first-hand accounts and problems. I'll weigh-in - I'm LGBTQIA+. This is personally negatively effecting me directly. I am relocating because I am afraid my neighbor will murder me because he was very aggressively pro-Trump and feels victimized by the losses.

I have had numerous friends who have needed to relocate and flee their cities because they no longer feel safe sleeping behind locked doors.

I know a few people in Colorado that had to completely change their holiday plans because Florida and Texas are now "too dangerous" for them. She's a doctor and he's a tech director. He happens to be trans so they have to be more concerned than you will when it comes to travel.

The accommodations are bleak madam. If they finish rounding us up, concern won't help anymore.

Precisely why I chose to share what I did. People like to hide behind the unspoken future like it won't come crashing through them.

I have a friend who is... very unique. You know the type - the guy who always brings the out of genre movie that is just extra. Or he'll come to the meetup typing on his phone and you find out he's researching some obscure subject.

I love him, he's brilliant. His children are amazing, his wife is way hotter than him. This guy has a great life, be glad for him.

So he sent me this link... and I've been staring at it since yesterday and it just keeps delivering.

I've found so many stories here. Star Trek, Aladdin, Spongebob, the little mermaid... they're all there.

Fort Worth Texas Judge decides that the bible is his rule of law.

“The PrEP mandate substantially burdens the religious exercise of the remaining non-Braidwood Plaintiffs," he wrote. "And like the owner of Braidwood, these Plaintiffs object to purchasing or providing coverage for PrEP drugs because they believe that (1) the Bible is ‘the authoritative and inerrant word of God,’ (2) the ‘Bible condemns sexual activity outside marriage between one man and one woman, including homosexual conduct,’ (3) providing coverage of PrEP drugs’ facilitates and encourages homosexual behavior, intravenous drug use, and sexual activity outside of marriage between one man and one woman,’ and (4) purchasing coverage of PrEP drugs by purchasing such coverage for personal or business use makes them complicit in those behaviors.”

This is why voting matters. This is why democracy matters. This is something that could prevent deaths, could prevent needless medical bills.

Some old man feels justified to pick and choose what parts of his private moral code to follow - and the rest of the country can just get with the program.
