I am making progress with the IndieConnector plugin. Today I was working on the Mastodon part, which you now can fine tune and also use to post images. Still working on that release, but here's an update on that:

I'm going through various AI coding helpers for a few months now. I want to keep an open mind and understand if there's something really mind-blowingly helpful. But so far, I haven't found anything that is more than "nice to have". I think it's also a lot about the tasks that we need to solve at @getkirby Coding speed is never really an issue. That's why I don't massively profit from autocompletion help. The obstacles are always conceptual questions. Did you find anything indispensable for you?

mauricerenck,
@mauricerenck@mastodon.online avatar

@bastianallgeier we're using Github copilot and it works really well for us. Because it is installed I use it for my Kirby-Plugins, too, but it seems more helpful in our nodejs microservices world. For conceptional stuff it's imho useless but it speeds up coding those microservices and often helps to solve knots in the brain, by simple writing a// TODO i want to do this and then wait for the completion. Because we often have a huge work load, speed is often important and Copilot helps.

Should I still be using ChatGPT 4 as my coding companion? Is there something measurably better/cheaper by now?

mauricerenck,
@mauricerenck@mastodon.online avatar

@marcel we/I am using GitHub Copilot directly in the IDE, which works way better than chatGPT for me.

Welcome to the second installment of 'I Might Have Made an Oopsie'—a series where I publicly therapize myself regarding my perhaps misguided decision to move to a small town.

Today’s topic: The People!

@mauricerenck@mastodon.online avatar

@marcel I think this is why people by a certain age tend to move to the "Speckgürtel“. I always lived in one. It’s not as loud and busy as in the city, but if you want to, you can take the train or bus and see all those people and after some hours you’re good and happy to get back to your quiet place.

Every time I post a link to my site on Mastodon, it locks up for like 30 seconds or so.

My theory is that because I have a quite a lot of followers (👋 hii!) the post hits a lot of instances and they all poll my site at the same time, effectively DDoS'ing it for a lil bit.

One day I'll run a packet capture and prove this theory…

@kev don’t you use Kirby? I can recommend the staticache plugin. It helped me a lot with issues like that.

Sehr lesenswert!

Maybe a silly #webmentions question, but is there a way you can recover deleted webmentions at webmention.io? I was having trouble with a Cybercultural post that didn't display all webmentions via Bridgy, so I manually deleted the ones that were in webmention.io/dashboard and then re-submitted the relevant Mastodon post to Bridgy — thinking that might send all the mentions to webmention.io this time. But nothing is showing up in webmention dashboard... cc @aaronpk

mauricerenck,
@mauricerenck@mastodon.online avatar

@ricmac @aaronpk When you are about to delete a webmention there is this little note on the bottom:
> Note: This will mark the specified webmentions as deleted, and they will no longer show up in the API. Future webmentions from this source URL will be ignored. If you have a callback URL configured, this will not send anything to the callback URL, so you will need to delete your own copy of it in that case.

So I guess you cannot resend them.

@marcel As a developer of a kirby comment plugin I have to be sure this will happen, but to be honest it doesn't happen very often these days. At least pulling back responses from mastodon makes the comment section a bit more active. But I think, if you have an active community, this can work.

Friends! I like eating meat and potatoes like a true Austrian farmer boy, but I want to eat less of it this year. What are your favorite vegetarian dishes? Like the ones that really feel like a meal.

mauricerenck,
@mauricerenck@mastodon.online avatar

@mxbck for me ordering HelloFresh boxes was very helpful of going nearly meatless. You can try out a lot, they have good recipes and you don’t have to buy ingredients you may only use one time and then throw the rest away because you don’t like the taste.

Moved the Mac mini to the ground below today.

You‘ll tell me when my obsession with cable management is getting out of hand, right? 🤓

@matthiasott waaaaait a minute! I never thought of that...

mauricerenck,
@mauricerenck@mastodon.online avatar

@matthiasott I really like the idea. I have a desk shelf where my USB hub is hanging on, so plugging in stuff will be no problem. On the other hand, the mac mini is below that shelf and behind a midi keyboard, so not really visible... 🤔

sidebar

Sidebar Culture: remember things in your blog sidebar like blogrolls, “Influential articles”, Flickr photos, MyBlogLog (a proto-social network for bloggers). All this stuff and more helped make early 2000s blogging fun and more communal. Would love to find a way to bring that back in 2024…

https://mastodon.social/@ricmac/111477809540922177

Thinking about a personal website re-design (or a new site), so I can play around with fediverse integration, sidebar culture, and other fun things. Thinking of using @eleventy (have used Hugo before and this seems better). Maybe a new site is better, as I don’t want to have to migrate ricmac.org from WordPress…for now, anyway. Is it normal for people to have two personal websites these days? I should just start a test site with 11ty and see how it goes…

https://mastodon.social/@ricmac/111489177217562043

Alles kommt wieder ☺️

mauricerenck,
@mauricerenck@mastodon.online avatar
