So we watch families go to 1 or 2 birthday parties a week, and when I sent out last minute invites to REN’s birthday party I said no gifts - but he’d love a heartfelt drawing or a card…

And other parents are mad?

Other parents are mad.

But like… who has time and money to be buying a kid you don’t know very well a present every week?

Anyhow. Broke a social norm today and would totally do it again.

@geekingirl nice work! We heard about a fiver birthday so did it last year. Kids wanting to give a gift could bring $5. Seemed like a great idea because kiddo was saving up for something and it was way more affordable & less stress for attendees. There were parents who were not so keen on it and let us know, or brought other gifts, or put more money, which just made it awkward for the kids who brought $5. Humans are so funny.

We’ve put roughly 4,800 kms on two e-bikes in just over a year. ~2,800 on the Yuba (no riding Dec-March) since end of April last year and 2,000 kms on our Load4 75 Reise & Muller since the end of August, 2023. We’ve had lots of bus trips and I’m averaging only 9 kms of walking a day. Living without a car can be very fucking frustrating and limiting in a city like but I wouldn’t trade it for anything

Hey #ottbike! Does anyone have a recommendation for an e-bike sold in Canada that’s comparable to the Radio Flyer Via? Looking for something that could safely hold two children <150lbs combined.
