A thought-provoking presentation and public comments on for and designing cities for all sorts of small wheels. Also very cool that (SFCTA) now has a Skateboarding Subcommittee.

A tip for or any . See if your city has a pavement condition . I like to check that whenever I’m exploring new routes. Combined with recent imagery it helps you find the good stuff. Buttery smooth vs. busted up makes a big difference.

For instance here’s the one for

@matthew3 Don't forget the, ahem, dorkier ones: and . Vice did a charming documentary on these a few years back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhEsNDQsRkM

And then you've got and a bunch of disciplines, if you count that. Downhill, freeride, longboard dancing, (long distance pushing or pumping), (standup paddleboard). of course. Then stuff...

A lot of little corners in the wider world.

For as much as I'm in Vegas, you'd think I'm one of the ones folk turn to with a worm like this, as opposed to me reaching out to all of you fine folk who attend Summer Camp there with me each year...

What are some favorite non-baudy, non-party experiences in Sin City? (Family will be in town with me next month and I'm building a list of things to check out with them which aren't like the kinds of usual stuff most of my people get up to every year during DEFCON / Black Hat / BSides.)

Best small museums, under-appreciated shows, etc. Avoiding the worst tourist traps but still showing them very unique and enjoyable things is my goal.

@deviantollam A decent drive from LV, but Death Valley National Park is fascinating, as are some of the places around it. Amargosa Opera House & Hotel, Goldwell Open Air Museum and the ghost town of Rhyolite.

You can't post anything about good urbanism in the Netherlands, or really anywhere in Europe, and not have someone say it wouldn't work in the US or Canada because these countries are "too big".

Seriously, it's ridiculous how pervasive this excuse is.

And yet it's so stupid, right? People don't travel across the country every day, they travel within their city.

I really didn't want to, but I finally broke down and made a video about this. It had to be done.🤦‍♂️

@notjustbikes Worth noting that has nearly double the land mass of the U.S. or Canada, yet still has an extensive passenger rail network, effective public transport, and good walkability. Also a lot of oil and something of an auto industry, hmm.

A charming little on an early craze in
